Delta Showcases Innovative Solutions for AI Data Centers and Infrastructure at Data Center World Frankfurt 2024

Delta just joined another Data Center World tradeshow in Frankfurt from May 22^nd – 23^rd after the participation in another DCW event earlier in February. To echo the theme of the tradeshow, Delta showcased its latest Open Rack Version 3 (ORV3) 1 OU 18 kW Power Shelf and the next-gen 21” and 19” HPR 33 kW Power Shelf. Among all, the 19” 1RU 33kW model was exclusively customized for the leading AI giant NVIDIA. With the same 33kW output and higher power density, this model successfully reduced its size from 21” to 19”, making it suitable for existing data centers.

Both the ORV3-conforming HPR 33 kW Power Shelf and its first-generation counterpart 18 kW type contain six hot-swappable 5.5 kW / 3 kW power supply units and can accommodate single or dual AC input as well as delivering a maximum power output of 33 kW / 18 kW or 27.5 kW / 15 kW with 5+1 redundancy. The two power shelves provide a 50 V / 48 V output and embrace the widespread adoption of a higher-voltage power distribution architecture. This design minimizes conduction losses and provides better thermal performance, achieving efficiency up to 97.5%. Additionally, each power supply unit has a 150% load capability for 20 milliseconds to protect against sudden current increases.

In addition, Delta exhibited a Power Management Controller (PMC), which highlights a Power over Ethernet (PoE) function with a rate of up to 1 GbE, making them ideally suited for the needs of hyper-scale data centers in the era of AI. Customization is one of Delta’s biggest advantages in the market. For example, the optional communication protocols such as PMBus over I²C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) and RS485 are the customized feature of server power solutions to ensure robust power management and rectifier parameters optimization. With wider AI applications coming out, Delta hopes to develop more advanced customized power solutions in the future.
