Delta Day Roadshow Seminars 2024:
Industry-Specific Smart Green Solutions Empower Customers in Global Competition

Delta’s Industrial Automation Business Group (IABG) hosted Delta Day seminar roadshows in Tainan (24th-25th Oct.), Taichung (6th-7th Nov.), and Taoyuan (13th and 15th Nov.). Under the theme of "Transforming towards a Smart Green Factory,” the seminars revolved around two topics: Low-Carbon Smart Manufacturing, and Digitized Smart Equipment, where industry-specific solutions for smart manufacturing and energy management solutions were presented.

Several senior managers from IABG, including the two deputy BG headsDr. David Tsai and Joe Wu, attended the seminars, reflecting its emphasis on engaging with customers on the front end. Dr. David Tsai said that for the machinery industry, which has started to prioritize energy and resource efficiency, Delta can to help deliver differentiated value to end customers in the global market. Mentioning IABG’s deep involvement in the industries for nearly thirty years, Joe Wu said that the know-how developed has been translated into smart solutions that cater most to customer needs.

The Low-Carbon Smart Manufacturing topic consisted of sessions on factory and process automation:

  • Electronics Assembly Industry: In response to accelerated product development and small-volume and diversified needs, Delta's Virtual Machine Development Platform DIATwin is paired with the Digital Twin Solution Integra to enable optimal parameters and automatic adjustments that are already proven in a simulated environment to shorten development cycles.

For holistic factory management, Delta’s smart solutions highlight vertical integration. At the equipment level, for example, Delta's Odd-form Insertion Machine, which can achieve high speed and precision with a low reject rate, can be connected to the Equipment Automation Program DIAEAP for OT layer management, and then up to the Smart Manufacturing Solutions for the
Electronics Assembly Industry DIAMOM for production management.

  • Semiconductor Industry: Designed for rigid standards of stable and accurate temperature control, Delta’s newly launched High-Precision Modular Temperature Controller DTDM features stable multi-channel control, high-speed communication and anti-interference. For communications integration, the Semiconductor Equipment Communication and Control Application Software DIASECS enables an easier adoption of mainstream communication specifications on equipment to reduce the technical threshold and cost.

  • Machine Tools / Rubber and Plastics: To integrate industry know-how with differentiated values, the CNC Controller NC5 provides multichannel processing and connectivity for the industry-dedicated Equipment Automation Program DIAEAP-PMM to gain an edge in capacity and quality. The High-Power Multi-Axis AC Servo System ASDA-H3 features high-precision control and fast response, which is ideal for injection molding and metal processing.

  • Energy Management for Smart Factories: For cross-factory management that prioritizes high system stability and information security, the SCADA System VTScada provides powerful capabilities and decentralized redundancy to allow energy management with reliable factory monitoring and control.

The Digitized Smart Equipment theme covers solutions for high precision, speed and energy efficiency with connectivity:

  • Smart Fluid Solution: Energy efficiency and system stability are particularly important for compressors, water pumps, and fans. Delta's Motor-mounted Pump Drive MPD / MP300 features a compact size and built-in multi-pump control. The Open-loop Variable Torque Standard Drive VP3000 has built-in harmonic suppression and predictive maintenance, ideal for safe and energy-saving high-power applications. Both can be paired with the IE5 PMa Synchronous Reluctance Motor MSI to further enhance energy efficiency.

  • Equipment Connectivity Solution: Communication compatibility and networking capabilities are major challenges for smart equipment. Delta’s Advanced IIoT Motion Controller AX-5 balances between security and openness by supporting multiple communications and connectivity. The Human Machine Interface DOP-300 can upload data to the cloud for analysis, serving as a shortcut to making equipment smarter.

  • Precision and High-Speed Solutions: The semiconductor, electronics assembly and optical industries present higher requirements for precision, quality and customization. Delta’s VGR+ Solution Pack integrates the machine vision platform, controllers and robots to perform accurate measurement, calibration and pick-and-place with open and flexible configurations. The Linear Motion Solution’s precise force control and soft-landing features satisfy the stringent requirements of precision assembly in repeatability and speed.

A variety of solutions and products were showcased during the seminars, including the Compact Multi-Drive MX300, which features multi-axis control, high performance and energy saving. The Smart Screwdriving System accurately controls the screwing force and monitors anomalies in real time. It can also be combined with Delta Robots and Machine Vision Solutions  to achieve precise positioning and stable yield. Delta’s Servo Press enables process guidance to reduce errors and production traceability.

Seminar guests showed much interest in smart solutions for hardware and software integration and smart factory management, which signals the industry's active intention to tackle global challenges with smart manufacturing. Delta will continue to commit to customers’ success with innovation and digitalization for a smart future.
