Delta Presents Smart Machine Solutions for an Upgrading Machine Tool Industry at TIMTOS 2019

From March 4th – 9th, 2019, Delta participated in the “2019 Taipei International Machine Tool Show” (TIMTOS 2019) with the theme “Delta Smart Machine Solutions for an Upgrading Machine Tool Industry”. Partnering with several machine makers, Delta's Equipment IoT and Management Platform connected smart machines and a management system with a complete equipment IoT structure. At Delta's booth, a huge screen wall displayed real-time operation data of the partners' demo kits at their booths with real smart manufacturing applications. Delta also presented many smart CNC machine tool solutions. The brand new CNC Ultrasonic Machining Solution integrates Delta's CNC system and the latest ultrasonic generator to enhance machining efficiency and quality of brittle materials (such as ceramics, glass and sapphire). The Grinding Solution adopts CAD/CAM Software for Surface Grinding to showcase Delta's excellent smart manufacturing integration capabilities.

The General Manager of Delta's Industrial Automation Business Group (IABG), Andy Liu, indicated that Delta is dedicated to developing IA products and software. The CNC solutions featured complete self-developed key components. Combined with IIoT technology and a monitoring visualization platform, Delta provides flexible solutions to meet various market demands. Delta not only supports the upgrades of machine tool customers, but is also developing global machine tool markets with its international business coverage. For example, a simple CNC lathe with touch panels for the local machining requirements in India provides small-volume with large-variety and easy operation. In Turkey, Delta offers complete aluminum and stone machining solutions for construction. With Delta's global operation and local customer service and maintenance, a Korean CNC machine maker successfully sells its Delta CNC solution integrated equipment to Vietnam.

Smart Equipment IoT and Management Platform with a complete equipment IoT structure
The highlight of Delta's booth was the Equipment IoT and Management Platform with twenty 55-inch LED screens. It connected to the partners' demo kits at their booths to remotely monitor the real-time operation data, and demonstrated standardized equipment connection, transparent information and digitalized smart machine management. The platform integrates a series of smart management software based on Delta's experience in the electronics industry, including:

• DIAMMP Manufacturing Management Platform provides detailed analysis data for production line operators to know real-time data and enhances production efficiency.

• DIAView SCADA System features real-time system monitoring, data collection and analysis functions. It helps users manage complex facility equipment with simple graphics and reports.

• DIAEnergie Industrial Energy Management System collects operation data such as water, gas and electricity, of high energy-consuming facilities. It systematically analyzes the collected data in visualized graphics.

• DIALink Equipment IoT Platform collects the data and uploads it to the management software.

Live demos display industry-specific machining solutions
Delta integrated IA products to build live demos that presented its latest solutions, targeting 5G mobile phone manufacturing, mold machining and mechanical component production industries. These solutions included:

• CNC Ultrasonic Machining Solution: To meet the machining requirements of brittle materials used in 5G mobile phone manufacturing, Delta has developed an ultrasonic generator and specific CNC solutions. There is a live demo to display its outstanding machining functions. The solution integrates Delta's CNC controller, spindle servo drive, AC servo system and the latest ultrasonic generator to drive an ultrasonic spindle motor and cutter. Connecting with Delta's DMCNET high-speed communication, the controller can adjust and maintain the tool vibration frequency instantly, enhancing the machining efficiency and accuracy. It greatly reduces the loading of cutters during operation, and is suitable for milling complex and brittle materials.

• The Grinder Solution and CAD/CAM Software for Surface Grinding: The live demo adopts the Delta CNC controller as master control, and Delta's AC motor drive to drive the grinding wheel. The solution offers simple wiring with a self-developed servo system. The full-closed loop control enhances processing quality that is precise and ideal for mold machining and mechanical component production. Combined with the new CAD/CAM Software for Machine Tools, it provides a simple, intuitive and guided operation interface. Users can easily generate a tool path with one simple click, and preview the grinding and dressing processes through dynamic 3D simulation.

Delta Smart Manufacturing Solutions for an upgrading machine tool industry
The “2019 Taipei International Machine Tool Show” (TIMTOS 2019) was hosted at Hall 2, Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. It was the first exhibition at the brand new Hall 2. There were 1,230 domestic and international exhibitors participating in the event, making it the largest machine tool show in Taiwan. TIMTOS 2019 attracted more than 50,000 visitors during the 5 days, most were CNC machine tool manufacturers. Delta's smart manufacturing capabilities are recognized by Taiwan and international clients, and it was chosen as a key exhibitor by the TIMTOS organizer. The organizer invited many university groups to visit the event, and Delta's booth was one of the highlights. Delta is dedicated to industry-university cooperation to cultivate a foundation of industrial talents. Through actual visits and introductions at TIMTOS 2019, the students and teachers got to know Delta's smart manufacturing capabilities at a deeper level. Delta looks forward to encouraging more talent to upgrade the industry in the future, together.
