Delta, a world-class provider of power management, thermal and industrial automation solutions, has announced its participation in the Taipei Int’l Industrial Automation Exhibition 2021 (Automation Taipei 2021) from December 15th ~ 18th with the theme of “Digitized Automation for a Changing World.” To counter the worldwide impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on manpower and material supplies, Delta has leveraged its extensive manufacturing experience and technological capabilities in industrial automation to develop comprehensive solutions covering different stages of smart transformation. With its Smart Factory Solutions, Smart Machine Building and Integration, Process Automation, and Smart Automation Products and Application Packs, Delta is leading manufacturers in overcoming the current challenges. During the exhibition, Delta is demonstrating a dot-line-plane solution of Smart Manufacturing Solutions for the Electronics Industry, which integrates smart automation products, smart production lines, and smart factories and converges OT, Edge and IT layers to introduce a 3-dimensional smart manufacturing solution. Delta is also debuting its Flexible Robotic Pallet Packaging Workstation as well as Time of Flight (ToF) 3D Vision Robotic Glue Dispensing Workstation, DIAStudio Smart Machine Suite, VTScada SCADA System, and other smart solutions to help manufacturers achieve their smart transformations.
Andy Liu, the General Manager of Delta’s Industrial Automation Business Group (IABG), points out that the pandemic has accelerated the upgrading to digitized automation. “To respond to emerging opportunities, the IABG is integrating its competencies and comprehensive product portfolios to implement smart production lines with the ‘dots’ of smart automation products and shape the ‘plane’ of smart factories afterward.” The IABG has also started the transformation from its factories. “With continuous validations and optimizations, we completed our Taoyuan Plant 1 smart production line upgrades applying the advanced technologies of smart equipment, IIoT, big data analytics, and AI.” Having taken this path, Delta’s IABG has developed one-stop smart manufacturing solutions through practical experience that customers can adopt easily and fulfill their horizontal development.
Smart Manufacturing Solutions for the Electronics Industry is one of Delta’s major exhibits for Automation Taipei this year. The solution integrates Delta’s self-developed smart equipment and design for automation with the DIAAuto Automation Integration Platform, DIAWorks Manufacturing Management Platform, monitoring and control center, and smart factory monitoring system. With manufacturing data collection, the solution helps fulfill the “man, machine, material, method, measurement, and environment (5M1E)” management for production, quality, equipment, and warehousing optimizations. Through DIASPC Statistical Process Control it is easy to see anomalies in real-time, reveal issues through analysis, and help maintain or enhance product quality under the small-volume large-variety production. In addition, the upper system provides a variety of customizable visualized diagrams and charts for admins to make decisions and enhance operational efficiency.
With the topic of Smart Machine Building and Integration, Delta focuses on the pain points most manufacturers face during the development of smart upgrades, including various products and complicated specifications, complicated software operation, and tuning inconvenience. To fulfill the concept that software adds value for hardware, Delta has integrated the DIASelector, DIADesigner / DIADesigner-AX, and DIAScreen to create one single platform: the DIAStudio Smart Machine Suite for quick device selection, easy engineering development, and intuitive visualization. DIAStudio also supports multiple communications protocols and features “one software, one wire” to create a friendly programming environment that helps machine developers save time and accelerate the process of smart production line upgrades.
With the increasing awareness of environmental sustainability, issues such as energy monitoring, control, and the management of water, electricity, oil, and gas in the factories have become critical for smart manufacturing development. As a promoter of green smart manufacturing, Delta is showcasing energy-saving solutions for water chillers and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) with the topic of Process Automation. Delta is also demonstrating the acquired VTScada SCADA System. The system features quick installation, security and backup, databases (Historian), and alarm and event management to help water treatment, oil and gas, electronics manufacturing, factory automation, and other industrial customers with big-scale and high-end applications achieve their goals for smart and sustainable manufacturing.
Delta is also presenting Smart Automation Products and Application Packs, including drives, servo systems, motion control systems, sensors, meters, machine vision and others to showcase the wide range of its product portfolios and solid capabilities in industrial automation. At Delta’s booth, visitors can see Delta’s demo of its 3D Machine Vision Integrated Measurement System with the integration of Delta’s Machine Vision System DMV3D Series and Articulated Robots DRV90L Series. The solution is easy to use and leverages 3D machine vision to capture and composite the product images in real-time to complete the measurement without extra vision controllers and algorithms. It also supports auto calibration without manual marking to perform high precision processing to help the metal, automotive components, shoe, and sports equipment manufacturing industries increase production efficiency and product quality.
During Automation Taipei 2021, Delta is not only focusing on the four main topics of Smart Factory Solutions, Smart Machine Building and Integration, Process Automation, and Smart Automation Products and Application Packs, but is has also arranged three booth tour sessions and two seminars every day to share hot topics, such as smart logistics, production line upgrades, cloud applications, and green factories. Delta sincerely invites media and industry professionals to come visit Delta’s booth, which is located at N814, 4F, Hall 1, Nangang Exhibition Center.
- Delta’s exhibit highlights at Automation Taipei 2021:
Smart Manufacturing Solutions for the Electronics Industry
Delta’s solutions adopt visual-physical smart factory architecture with the integration of DIASPC Statistical Process Control and a manufacturing execution system to control and manage quality online. By collecting production data and applying statistical process control, admins can analyze anomaly trends and respond promptly to ensure production stability and reveal the issues affecting product quality. The system provides a variety of diagrams and charts users can apply to customize the contents as well as the means to monitor and control information with anomaly alarm distribution, a personalized monitoring dashboard, and a factory alarm bulletin board. The management team can leverage the system to see and address anomalous events for more stable product quality.
ToF 3D Vision Robotic Glue Dispensing Workstation
While industrial automation is no longer a new concept, more manufacturers have started to apply industrial robots to replace manual operations for toxic processing, such as glue dispensing. In general, industrial robots are suitable for standardized and automatic processes, but for small-volume large-variety production product quality and production process are still more challenging. To address manufacturers’ pain points, Delta has introduced the ToF 3D Vision Robotic Glue Dispensing Workstation, a one-stop integrated solution without control cabinets to save space and lower the adoption threshold. The solution integrates the ToF Camera DMV-T Series and the SCARA Robot DRS60L Series with an integrated 5th axis, which can automatically capture the features of the product profile and generate a dispensing path to complete the process with a repeatability within ±0.015mm.
