The Delta IED Series: Increasing Elevator Reliability

So widely used in buildings and public areas, elevators have become a daily necessity. With great potential for growth and rapid improvements in technology, the elevator market today is looking for more than just a safe ride. It is seeking smooth operation, comfort, and energy-savings, and the attention is on both features and cost. Traditional elevator control methods often use a host controller to collect peripheral component status and transmit this data to the drive that propels the tractor and pulls the elevator car. The problem with this method is that many components must be assembled and integrated with complex wiring. Error detection and maintenance inspection become more difficult, which results in a greater need for technical support and follow-up services. As a solution to this problem, Delta introduces the Integrated Elevator Drive (IED) Series.
The IED Series combines host controller and drive functions into one MCU which vastly improves operation performance and reliability. Delta also provides various optional accessories for more versatile elevator control. The IED Series meets strict UL/CE international safety standards to provide passengers with a reliable and comfortable ride as well as other excellent features.

The single MCU design of the IED Series successfully eliminates the transmission delay and interference problems of data transmission and offers a compact drive size for greater installation flexibility. Fast calculation capabilities configure the operation speed for direct stop instead of performing multi-step speeds to provide passengers with a smooth ride without experiencing elevator deceleration. Every floor is connected via serial communication which provides faster communication speed with the IED Series compared to using the I/O on/off control for parallel communication. Serial communication is especially important for taller building applications to provide less complex wiring and reduce hardware cost.

The IED Series allows operators to perform elevator auto-tuning with load while also providing an onsite tuning function to simplify the elevator tuning process. It is capable of performing perfect elevator start-and-stop without using load compensation, and auto-adjusts when the mechanical brake is released. It performs motor phase-loss detection and output torque detection before the mechanical brake is released for safety purposes and to provide a reliable ride. In the case of power failure, all models of the IED Series are equipped with a 230Vac Uninterrupted Power System (UPS) to perform a light-load direction search and bring the elevator back to the nearest floor instantly. The IED Series has a simple built-in digital keypad to further facilitate operation and it is also available with an optional pull-out digital keypad to meet various needs. For the ultimate operator convenience, the IED Series provides a USB port for computer connection and quick software upload and download.

In addition to these outstanding features, the IED Series also provides an abundant selection of accessories including all types of car-top accessories and internal/external display boards. The IED Series provides one-stop shopping by integrating planning, assembly, technology and service to save you time putting together all that is required for your elevator. The benefits of Delta's IED Series includes simplified wiring, compact size and design, reduced construction cost and shopping convenience while delivering innovative and reliable technology to support your elevator solution with the greatest flexibility.
