2009 – the Year of Challenges

"To the sales department of Delta Industrial Automation Business Unit (IABU), 2009 is definitely the year of challenges." This is the definition Mr. Andy Liu, the senior sales manager of Delta IABU, gave for the year 2009. To most enterprises, the recent depression since Q4 in 2008 had become a survival issue rather than just a temporary problem. Under this kind of circumstance, sales department's reactions and strategies are keys that decide whether a enterprise makes through this difficulty; of course, Delta IABU is of no exception.

"Facing the year 2009, Delta IABU sales department has 3 main strategies: expanding sales areas, choosing profitable markets, and launching new products," said Mr. Liu. First of all, IABU will establish a whole new division – Solution Business, which will effectively expand IABU's current sales area, OEM, to Projects. Secondly, Mr. Liu mentioned that Delta IABU will analyze the market and set goals according to the dramatic changes of current market. He said, "We will go back to the basic needs and emphasize on fields that are relatively less effected, e.g., areas regarding people's livelihood and governments' economic stimulus plans of all countries. After all, food, clothing, housing, and transportation industries are absolutely necessary no matter how bad things go." Furthermore, Delta IABU will be focusing on investing new market in 2009. "We are about to build a complete sales channel net and widely distribute sales and service centers all around in India; meanwhile, we will have a regional sales manager in Brazil's subsidiary to help our local distributors open up the market there,” said Mr. Liu. At the same time, Delta IABU is also preparing weapons for entering new markets – news products. The 3rd strategy Mr. Liu claim is that IABU keeps developing and launches news products in 2009 as scheduled. Mr. Liu expressed that as always, Delta IABU's new products are green products and can satisfy the needs of most industries; what's more, the new products to be launched in 2009 not only designed with greater functions for advanced field applications, the prices are also more competitive than ever. Mr. Liu believes that these new products will surely be of helpful supporting IABU's goal of expanding sales territories in 2009.

Except the 3 strategies mentioned, inner innovation is also another important factor of survival. In general, Mr. Liu came up with 2 inner innovations: effective operation and CPFR. For the moment, it's nothing more important than self-evolution, which means not only the sales department but also every employee must find ways to make it work more effectively. "The sales market is changing so rapidly these days that Delta IABU sales department are now collecting market and sales information more frequently to make correct reaction and effective adjustment in time." As to CPFR, it's a supplementing system Delta IABU is building to connect local distributors/subsidiaries to manufacturing plants. This system will be able to keep tracking sales volume of sales channels overseas and pass the data back to manufacturing plants, so it will be very helpful to control the production lines.

Mr. Liu also talked about winning the 1st "Delta Da Vinci Innovation Award" and getting credits for opening sales channels. He thinks the main reason for IABU winning this prize is because of its constant inner innovation and courage to try; and with Delta's spirit of encouraging innovation and bearing failure, IABU was able to successfully open up sales channels. "We've never stopped searching and trying, and fortunately, our efforts are worth it," said Mr. Liu.

"IABU sales department shall not and will not consider the decline of sales volume reasonable just because of the depression. On the contrary, IABU and all its distributors will keep looking for chances to grow and to develop, and react to customers' needs," expressed Mr. Liu. Delta IABU will never stop investing and developing, even under the most difficult circumstance of slow growth. Mr. Liu has the confidence to make through this trial. "We believe our hard work now will make IABU and all its distributors overcome this obstacle and bloom the moment the depression is over!"
