Under the theme “Smart Solutions, Better Tomorrow” Delta presented its brand-new Articulated Robot DRV90L Series and SCARA Robot DRS60L Series at the China International Industry Fair 2015 (CIIF 2015) from November 3rd to 7th in Shanghai, China.
Delta exhibited a series of industrial automation products and solutions for smart manufacturing at the show. Delta's new industrial robots feature high speed and high precision, and can increase daily productivity by up to three times when applied to production lines for electronics, packaging, and many other industries. Other solutions presented at the CIIF included an industrial monitoring and control system, iPEMS (Intelligent Process & Management System), and Delta Energy Online. With these solutions for big data visualization and energy efficiency management, Delta is poised to help achieve the vision of the "China Manufacturing 2025" plan, and the green upgrading of intelligent manufacturing.
Delta Chairman Yancey Hai said, "A smart factory with high efficiency, low cost, and low energy consumption has become the goal for all manufacturers. Delta, with our advantages in innovation, energy savings, and green technology, brings a driving force to the development of smart industry and green manufacturing. For example, following the debut of our in-house SCARA robot at last year's CIIF, we are introducing three more industrial robot solutions. The articulated robot DRV90L Series, in particular, achieves multi-angle insertion, providing high flexibility, precision, and speed."
Simon Chang, Delta Senior V.P. and IA Business Group General Manager, said, "To stay abreast of the intelligent industry trend, Delta provides a complete set of smart manufacturing solutions aligned to customer's needs. The industrial robot plays a vital role in smart manufacturing, and light industry is expected to take the lead in the implementation of smart manufacturing. Delta is showcasing three robot solutions that belong to the lightweight category, as well as a smart industrial monitoring system that includes SCADA system DIAView and industrial energy management system (IEMS) DIAEnergie, helping customers realize intelligent management. With its remote monitoring and control capabilities of the operation and equipment on a production site, the computer-based automatic system for manufacturing process control and adjustment creates a real-time, automatic, safe and intelligent information system, effectively helping users make sound decisions."
Delta Greentech (China) Vice Chairman Jimmy Yin said, "In addition to creating highly efficient products and integrated solutions, Delta also provides comprehensive management systems and platforms, helping customers achieve smart manufacturing and green production. At this year's CIIF, Delta is showcasing a total of four systems, 12 solutions, and 32 products, in the hope of collaborating with various partners to create a platform for green development."
Advanced Products and Integrated Solutions for Smart Manufacturing
Delta Industrial Automation focused on smart manufacturing with three industrial robot solutions, a smart factory monitoring system, integrated industrial automation solutions, as well as a SCADA system and IEMS systems:
- Multi-angle insertion workstation adopts Delta Articulated Robot DRV90L Series and features high flexibility. This robot solution can achieve design optimization for various applications, including assembly, screw driving, glue dispensing, soldering, loading and unloading, inspection, staking, and packaging for electrical/electronics, rubber and plastics, metal fabrication, machinery manufacturing and other industries.
Automatic glue dispensing workstation applies the SCARA Robot DRS60L Series and is able to conduct high speed, precise, and stable conveyer tracking and glue dispensing through constant system optimization. With an external 5th axis, the DRS60L Series can be applied to complex processes such as gluing dispensing, soldering, loading and unloading, and inspection for electrical / electronics, consumer electronics, and other industries.
Multi-angle soldering workstation adopts the SCARA Robot DRS40L Series with an external 5th axis that achieves multi-angle soldering on a non-planar PC board. This solution can achieve rapid changeover on production lines with standard fixtures when replacing PC boards. When incorporated into a robotic workstation, the DRS40L Series is able to conduct complex processes such as assembly, screw driving, glue dispensing, deburring and edging, soldering, and inspection for the electrical/electronics, rubber and plastics, metal fabrication, and other industries.
* Delta's industrial robots are sold only in Taiwan and China for now
- Delta's smart industrial monitoring and control system is a PC-based production control and adjustment automation system. It is able to remotely monitor and control on-site production equipment operation, as well as perform data acquisition and analysis, equipment control, measurement, parameter adjustment, alarms, and illustration generation. Delta's smart industrial monitoring and control system enhances reliability, safety, economy and operation efficiency and reduces employee loading and labor force. It is the key to automation and modern industry, and can be applied to machinery, metallurgy, water treatment, IoT, HVAC, packaging, heating, environmental monitoring, textiles, energy management, transportation, and smart buildings.
Market Experience for Future Trends
During CIIF 2015, Delta shared its market experiences and analyzed future trends at two forums:
MM New Automation Forum: "China Manufacturing 2025" Interpretation and Delta's Smart Manufacturing Solutions
Andy Liu, the assistant general manager of Delta IA Business Group, attended the 11th MM New Automation Forum 2015, with the theme "China Manufacturing 2025 Interpretation and IoT & Smart Factory Construction", and gave a speech on “Smart, Green Manufacturing and 2025” to nearly 200 attendees from various industries. He pointed out that China is facing increasing labor and energy cost and demands for better product quality, and the country is desperately seeking excellent efficiency in manufacturing.
Mr. Liu indicated that the best solution is “Greener and Smarter Manufacturing” with automation, information technology and network integration. With industrial communication networks, the green and smart manufacturing system integrates production machines, workstations, production processes, facility management, as well as factory monitoring and energy management, for data exchange, information management and production automation. The systems also connect IoT and the cloud for users and managers to remotely monitor and manage factory operation and manufacturing processes.
For the trend of smart manufacturing, Delta plays two roles at the same time. As a leading company in global electronics manufacturing, Delta introduces advanced technologies and solutions to achieve smart manufacturing and modern management in factories. On the other hand, Delta is a leading automation solution provider with advanced smart manufacturing technologies and solutions. The two identities allow Delta to provide a state-of-the-art factory management system basing on real needs. In addition, with experience accumulated from factory management, Delta integrates automation technologies to provide more innovative and value-added smart manufacturing solutions for customers.
