Delta Industrial Automation Creates More Business Opportunities for Aluminum Extrusion Manufacturers

Delta Industrial Automation (IA) has recently provided an aluminum extrusion manufacturer in Foshan, Guangdong, China, with a double puller automation solution, which has solved communication and quality issues caused by the poor wiring of the customer's old aluminum extrusion system. The solution met customer requirements for higher production efficiency and speed.

Extruded aluminum is pulled forward under a specific amount of tension by pullers to ensure an even flow of aluminum during extrusion and to reduce the risk of deformation. The customer in Foshan adopted a double puller for its aluminum extrusion system. The double puller consists of two pullers that move back and forth respectively to pull the extruded aluminum on a 50m track to ensure a continuous and fluent extrusion process. Traditionally, sliding contact lines are adopted on the pullers for electricity transmission and system communication. However, the constantly moving pullers often make the signal transmission unstable and may even cause the network to become disconnected.

To solve the problem, Delta's solution adopts its mid-range Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) AH500 Series for system control, and the AC Motor Drive VFD Series for variable frequency control of puller speeds. For communication, the system adopts Industrial Ethernet Wireless AP DVW-W02W2-E2 Series to build Ethernet communication between the two DVP Series PLCs installed on the two pullers. The wireless communication achieves precise synchronous control for the moving pullers, and achieves high speed production and high communication quality with improved total production efficiency.

The AH500 Series PLC adopts a dual-core multi-tasking processor, featuring excellent program execution speed (0.3ms per 1k steps), modularized hardware structure, highly integrated software and interface, various function blocks, and exceptional system expandability. Delta's Wireless AP DVW-W02W2-E2 Series provides 5GHz IEEE 802.11 a/n and 2.4GHz IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standards, and MIMO technology that increases transmission speed up to 450Mbps data rate. It also supports multiple wireless modes to provide a more stable and faster automation solution with longer transmission distance. The DVW-W02W2-E2 Series saves greatly on wiring and is able to remotely control a large amount of equipment to meet a variety of requirements in the modern industrial environment.

Delta's solution successfully provides the customer with a high speed and highly efficient wireless double puller control system for aluminum extrusion, which greatly enhances the communication quality and production efficiency for aluminum extrusion. In the future, Delta Industrial Automation will continue to support customers in their highly competitive markets.
