Delta Industrial Ethernet Switches and WLAN for Harsh Application Environments

Delta Industrial Automation presents its Managed/unmanaged Industrial Ethernet Switch DVS Series and IEEE 802.11 WLAN DVW-W02W2-E2 Series to build high-end, high-speed and reliable industrial communication networks in harsh application environments.

Facing problems such as labor shortages, depleting resources and increasing materials costs, automation has become a growing requirement in modern industries. In recent years, automation no longer refers to just single or multiple machines but to complete production lines or whole factory system integration.

As a result, industrial communications for a variety of equipment has become an important issue. Among various industrial communication methods, industrial Ethernet is an open network and is widely applied to IT industries, companies or factories, and has become a major trend in industrial communication.

Delta is aware of this market trend and its requirements and has launched the Managed/unmanaged Industrial Ethernet Switch DVS Series and IEEE 802.11 WLAN DVW-W02W2-E2 Series. The DVS Series and DVW-W02W2-E2 Series support the EtherNet/IP, MODBUS TCP protocol that facilitates remote management by SCADA and other industrial devices. With the capability of building a 1000Mb high-speed fiber ring, the DVS Series and DVW-W02W2-E2 Series guarantee immediate data exchange between workshops and different areas with a large network architecture. They can also construct backup networks and have auto network reconnection functions (>20ms), self-diagnosis and auto warning functions that ensure network reliability and safety.

In addition, the DVW-W02W2-E2 Series is compliant with IEEE 802.11n wireless technology, making it compatible with 11 a/b/g and reaching a data rate of up to 450Mbps. It also has enhanced wireless security functions to ensure the confidentiality and safety of wireless data transmission.

Considering the severe environments industrial communication products may encounter, the DVS Series and DVW-W02W2-E2 Series were designed with an IP40 aluminum metal case and -40°C~75°C operating temperature. The two products are able to maintain normal operation when exposed to heat, cold, and humidity.

Recently, the DVS Series has been successfully applied to the monitoring systems of many highways and tunnels in China. For example, tunnels over 1 km in length generally require a control and monitoring system for ventilation, lighting, monitoring, traffic signs, fire alarms, closed-loop surveillance systems, emergency telephones and radio, and power control, to assure safe and smooth traffic in the tunnels. The system also connects the control center for data collection, organization and storage to form a total tunnel solution with control, recording and analyzing capabilities.

In May 2014, the DVS Series and DVW-W02W2-E2 Series were exhibited during the Federal Office System Exposition (FOSE) 2014, a special exposition open to U.S. federal procurement personnel, tenderers that have obtained governmental bids, and qualified suppliers for the U.S. government. Many visitors to Delta's stand were impressed by the features and strong functions of the DVS Series and DVW-W02W2-E2 Series. Even some of the U.S. exhibitors expressed an interest in cooperating with Delta. The exhibition helped raised the brand awareness of Delta and brought new business opportunities.
