Delta Develops New Business Opportunities with Smart City Solutions at Smart Asia INDIA 2019

Delta recently participated in the Smart Asia INDIA Expo & Summit 2019 from Oct 17 to 19 in Mumbai, India. At the event, Delta promoted its Energy Saving and Management Solution, Smart Municipal Management and Control System, Solar Pump Solution and Smart Transportation System to the Indian market. RT Tsai, a senior VP at Delta, introduced Delta's smart city solution success cases and received positive feedback from local customers. The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) also hosted a seminar with the same topics at the Taipei International Convention Center (TICC), where Delta presented its electric scooter solutions for energy-saving transportation in smart cities.

Due to the U.S-China trade war, the global electronics supply chain is migrating to the Indian market as a new base, which strengthens the production capabilities of India's electronics manufacturing. Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have become an industrial corridor of Taiwanese electronics manufacturers. To meet the demands of market changes and customers, Delta has deployed the manufacturing of AC motor drives to its plant in Hosur, India, since 2016. Delta also has new plant in Krishnagiri undergoing construction to begin Made in India production.

At the event, Delta showcased smart transportation, monitoring and water treatment solutions to echo its Smart Cities Mission in India. The highlights included:

• Energy Saving and Management Solution: For HVAC systems, elevator systems, lighting systems and energy consumption in office areas, Delta presented a solution that integrates IA products in the equipment and controller system to connect with an upper level management system for real-time and complete electricity consumption status monitoring.
- HVAC System: The Vector Control Drive C2000 Series with high durability and protection level is adopted to drive chiller units, fans and pumps, air compressors and cooling towers. The wide power range and efficiency of the C2000 Series is suitable for all equipment.
- Elevator System: The Compact Elevator Drive MH300-L Series and Elevator Drive VFD-ED Series are available for different elevator requirements. The Power Regenerative Unit REG2000 Series or Active Front End Unit AFE2000 can be installed for regenerating energy.

In addition to the HVAC system and elevator system, the power consumption status of the lighting system and the electrical equipment in the office can be monitored by the Power Meter DPM Series and uploaded to the DIAEnergie Industrial Energy Management System in real-time. If the data is over-limited or abnormal, it will send off an alarm message to notify management staff. The system also analyzes historical data for future power usage plans.

• Smart Municipal Management and Control System: Delta is cooperating with India's local governments and system integration providers to set up trial sites for smart cities. The system does not only utilize IA products in the equipment or plant, but it is also used to improve electrical system quality, monitor fluid systems, and manage water supply systems and water treatment as a smart municipal management and control system.
• Solar Pump Solution: The agriculture industry in India is highly labor-intensive, especially the irrigation process. Delta has developed its AC motor drive for fan and pump control that replaces manual irrigation. The AC motor drive adopts solar as a power source for a solution that addresses power supply issues in India's vast territory. Delta has deployed this solar pump solution for a local irrigation system in Bodeli, Gujarat State since 2013, and continues to promote it to other regions.

At the same time, Delta showcased its Smart Transportation System at TICC in Taipei. With its robust technology, Delta collaborated with a scooter manufacturer to develop electric scooters, offering the products suitable for scooters, such as traction drives, motors and DCDC converters. Delta's e-mobility powertrain products enhanced the efficiency of electric scooters.
