Delta Enhances Smart Production Line at the CYCU R&D Center for Smart Manufacturing

Delta's IABG has cooperated with Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) and various vendors to set up the CYCU R&D Center for Smart Manufacturing. Delta adopted its own smart factory construction experience to implement the monitoring system, industrial robots, and other IA products on the smart production demo line on the first floor of the new center. On March 12th, the Mayor of Taoyuan City Wen-tsan Cheng, the Deputy Minister of MOST Yu-Chin Hsu, the Principal of CYCU Samuel K.C. Chang, and the CTO of Delta IABG Chientang Lien and other representatives participated in the inauguration ceremony.

The CYCU R&D Center for Smart Manufacturing is an international demo site for Industry 4.0 research and industry-university cooperation. In addition to providing a base for innovation and industry-university cooperation, it has also built an automated production demo line with domestic products to showcase the Industry 4.0 power of Taiwan. On the smart production line, Delta has provided automated equipment and industrial robots, and achieves smart manufacturing with the connection of DIAMMP Manufacturing Visualization and Management. The President of CYCU Samuel K.C. Chang indicated that CYCU has cultivated many engineering talents since its foundation, and it plays an important role in building key construction projects and technology zones in Taiwan. The CYCU R&D Center for Smart Manufacturing symbolizes the responsibility of CYCU to pioneer industry upgrades and talent development.

On the automated production line on the first floor of the center, Delta's DIAMMP provides efficient management and monitoring of production equipment. The Delta Articulated Robot DRV60L performs pick-and-place tasks for the electric discharge machine (EDM). At the inauguration ceremony, CYCU demonstrated the Delta Electric Servo Press performing the precision bearing pressing process as an advanced automation application. The 3D Machine Vision & Multi-point Robotic Soldering Solution adopted machine vision algorithms for multi-point soldering inspection. It replaces the traditional labor-intensive soldering process, which attracted the attention of many visitors. CYCU is planning further collaboration to enhance its smart production line efficiency.

Delta continues to develop advanced industrial automation technology from basic equipment automation, integrated production automation, equipment IoT data collection to monitoring and management of the processes, quality, equipment and logistics with the MES system. At the same, Delta has built close relationships with many universities and schools to fulfill its corporate social responsibility. Together with other vendors, Delta's IABG is cooperating with CYCU to integrate a variety of technologies with R&D teams to cultivate new talent for the industry's future.
