Delta Water Treatment Solution Brings Innovative Automation to Romanian Water Treatment Plant

Delta has recently assisted a large water treatment plant in Romania in building a highly efficient automated water treatment system that provides clean drinking water and wastewater treatment for nearly 30,000 people in the central Romanian cities. Delta's products and solutions provide a distributed control system to principal plant processes such as pumping stations and water level monitoring equipment that enhance energy efficiency and stable, reliable operations while saving on overall operating costs.

Delta's complete water treatment solution for the plant integrates the monitoring system and field control system. For the supervisory layer and network layer, Delta's Industrial Ethernet Switch DVS Series is integrated with a third party SCADA system for real-time monitoring and data collection. For the field control layer, Delta's hot swappable Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) AH Series, Human Machine Interface (HMI) DOP-B Series and Fan/Pump Vector Control Drive CP2000 Series are applied to help customers significantly improve the efficiency of water treatment processes and reduce unnecessary energy consumption.

The Managed Industrial Ethernet Switch DVS-110 Series with its network redundancy technology and TCP/IP fiber optics (in ring topology network) delivers high-speed and reliable data transmission. Delta's proprietary self-healing redundant ring technology enables redundant paths and provides self-healing recovery time of less than 20ms to ensure fluent data transmission with minimum loss when any nodes fail or meet defaults in a ring network.

The actual control layer is made up of various Delta products, including the hot swappable AH PLC plus I/O modules—with a total 1,400 points, and the DOP-B 7” color touchscreen HMI for real-time visualized management with simple and reliable structure that saves on maintenance cost. The CP2000 sensorless vector control drive provides various modes for fan/pump applications including PID control, sleep/wake up functions, flying start and skip frequency. It controls the operation frequency of the pumps to enhance motor performance.
