Event Review: Delta IA Showcases Smart and Flexible Manufacturing at Techno-Frontier 2017 in Japan

Delta Industrial Automation (IA) took part and showcased its variety of highly efficient automation solutions and energy saving products at the TECHNO-FRONTIER exhibition from April 19 to 21 in Japan this year. Highlights of the event included Delta's display of its latest high-level PC-based EtherCAT multi-axis motion control solution, Compact Drive MS300 Series, IP55 Fan and Pump Drive CFP2000 Series. Delta also unveiled its SCARA industrial robot workstation simulating insertion operations, which successfully fulfills customers' demands for a variety of applications in factories and production lines.

Mr. C.H. Ko, executive director of Delta Electronics (Japan) said that based on its core technology in power electronics, Delta actively develops automation and energy infrastructure products and solutions that are widely adopted around the world. Delta's first proprietary solar plant, Delta Ako Energy Park, which began operations last year, is generating up to 5,500,000kWh of electricity annually, exceeding original estimates by more than 10%. Delta's SCARA industrial robots and full range of industrial automation products have also been integrated into manufacturing plants in Taiwan, China, Southeast Asia and other areas to implement smart, automated production lines for a range of industries.

During the event, the most focused display was the new high-level PC-based EtherCAT multi-axis motion control solution. By using Delta's high-end PC-based industrial controller and EtherCAT open network communications, the solution is able to simultaneously control up to 64 axes and 100 points. It also features high scalability for multi-axis simultaneous motion for applications including consumer electronics assembly for mobile phones or lenses, semiconductor processing for AOI detection or wafer cutting, and for equipment use such as stage, lighting, and curtain automation.

In addition, other product highlights at this year's Delta booth include: a line-up of AC motor drives (including Compact Drives and IP55 Fan and Pump Drives), human machine interfaces (HMI), AC servo drives and a variety of industrial automation products. In comparison with previous Delta launched AC motor drives, the Compact Drive MS300 Series has been reduced in size by up to 40% for easier use and installation. Delta's CFP2000 Series is designed with an IP55 enclosure to provide effective protection from harsh industrial environments such as dust and other particles and to offer a good level of protection from water, and it continues to generate excellent feedback from customers.

At the exhibition Delta also presented its Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS), EC fans, PV inverters, high-efficiency rectifiers for mobile base station applications and Building Management and Control System (BMCS) developed by its subsidiary company, LOYTEC, to provide smart automation management as well as enhance energy saving efficiency for customers.
