Delta's Wood Drilling Machine Solution Offers Excellent Production Efficiency

In the age of smart manufacturing, many industries have adopted automation products to effectively manage their factory equipment with enhanced production efficiency, reduced labor, and fewer operating costs. Delta recently provided a wood processing company in Mainland China with an efficient solution for wood drilling machine applications. By employing Delta's 3-Axis Synchronous Servo System ASDA-M Series, human machine interface (HMI), and servo motors, the solution ensures a fast drilling speed of up to 14 surface meters per minute. In addition, Delta's solution successfully fulfills the company's requirements for replacing their traditional manual drilling with high precision drilling and reducing occupational safety risks.

The company adopted Delta's wood drilling machine solution to improve drilling speed, efficiency, and drilling precision. The result can be widely applied to drilling doors, windows, and more in the woodworking industry.
The wood drilling machine process includes hole detection, deviation correction, and the drilling of wooden boards during conveyance. By placing wooden boards on the conveyor, a holes detection sensor first detects all the hole locations on the boards and transmits the data to Delta's servo system ASDA-M Series for calculating critical parameters. As the board proceeds, the drill moves along the X-Axis (feeding board axis). During this movement, a deviation correction sensor transmits data back to the ASDA-M with corrected position commands to execute the final drilling positions with high precision and accuracy.

Delta's solution for the wood drilling machine application employs a widescreen HMI DOP-B Series for displaying control and monitoring processes. A 3-Axis Synchronous Servo System ASDA-M Series is the host controller with built-in motion control and programmable logic controller functions. It can support 3 axes of synchronous control including the feeding board axis, the hole drilling axis, and the main axis. The wood drilling machine greatly enhances production efficiency with fast data transmission between HMI and ASDA-M via the RS-232 communication network. This solution also offers different HMI techniques for drilling two holes or more on the wooden boards for a wide range of applications.

As a result, Delta's solution offers precise motion control with ±0.15mm drilling precision and rapid drill speed of up to 14 surface meters per minute. It supports all drilling techniques in the woodworking industry, with no additional programming required for enhanced equipment efficiency and production quality.

Delta's success has helped elevate the manufacturing equipment used in the woodworking industry that provides 'Automation for a Changing World' for our customers.
