Smart Manufacturing for an Upgraded Industry:2019 Delta Taiwan Seminar Roadshow

Delta's Industrial Automation Business Group (IABG) has just hosted three seminar roadshows in Taipei (Aug 21st to 22nd), Taichung (Aug 29th to 30th), and Tainan (Sep 5th and 6th). The Taipei seminar was held at the meeting room of the Nangang Exhibition Center during the 2019 Taipei International Industrial Automation Exhibition. The Taichung and Tainan seminars were held in the industrial manufacturing centers of these two Taiwan cities. The 2-day seminar was divided into two themes for different target audiences. On the first day, the topic focused on Delta's smart manufacturing solutions and success cases, and the second day provided an introduction of Delta's new IA hardware and software products and related applications. The attendees were enthusiastic about the topics, and there were lively discussions at the events.

The theme of the first day was “Smart Blueprint for Transformation to Digitalization”. To meet the urgent transformation demands of system integration and end-user customers, the seminar focused on smart equipment, robots, equipment IoT, virtual physical integration, manufacturing execution and smart monitoring solutions. Delta IA also shared its own smart manufacturing transformation experiences and success stories with customers. The agendas included: the challenges Delta faced and conquered from automation to smart manufacturing; how to adopt a self-developed software platform to complete IT and OT integration; and the implementation of an MES solution to achieve efficient manufacturing execution management. In addition, the smart equipment developed by Delta for the electronic assembly industry is expandable for an upgraded smart production line. Combining a machine vision system with industrial robots fulfills the requirement for flexible manufacturing and quick production line implementation. As modern smart factories take environmental safety and protection into consideration, Delta featured a Green Factory Solution that adopts the Industrial Energy Management System DIAEnergie and SCADA System DIAView for factory facility and energy consumption management with the Multifunction Power Meter DPM Series and Industrial PC DIAVH Series. Delta's complete smart manufacturing solutions integrate mature products with its own experience to help customers achieve a manufacturing upgrade.
The theme of the second day was “Smart Equipment for Future Industrial Automation”. Delta introduced machine maker customers to its latest IA software and hardware products and applications. Dedicated to IA for more than 20 years, Delta's IABG has abundant experience in R&D and the IA market. Delta's complete product line ranges from integrated engineering software to controllers, industrial Ethernet switches, servo systems, motor drives, and smart sensors. Delta continues to launch new products for upgrading the machining industry. Seminar highlights included:
• Integrated Engineering Software DIAStudio is OneSoftware that integrates model selection, programming, and tag sharing functions for Delta's AC motor drives, PLCs, servo drives and HMIs. With DIAStudio, users can save a great deal of time and wiring cost for machine making.
• The Extended Motion Controller DXMC Series is a motion controller with an open platform. It is able to control 32 servo axes and 64 virtual axes with execution cycles from 125us – 1ms. The DXMC Series integrates the comprehensive motion control functions of Delta's motion control database, including various motion control blocks and more than 35 types of robot modules. It also provides a self-developed motion database for users to add new industry-oriented functions with an easy-to-use interface.
• The Standard AC Servo System ASDA-B3 Series features 3.1 kHz high-speed response bandwidth, which significantly shortens settling time. The low cogging torque enhances its stability in high-speed operation and low speed machining. The axis synchronization function achieves gantry control with ease. The built-in PR mode with 99 procedures provides flexible path editing and motion control. The ASDA-B3 drives support all motors for a user to select based on suitable applications.

At the seminar, Delta also presented a variety of IA products, such as: the Compact Modular Mid-range PLC AS Series for high-end system and process automation; the Industrial Ethernet and Cloud Solution as an essential part for smart manufacturing; various new linear motion products; Delta's most compact AC motor drive Basic Compact Drive ME Series; the Vector Control Drive C2000 Plus that assembles Delta's AC motor drive technology; and the Multi-Loop Modular Temperature Controller DTM Series for versatile applications. The Industrial Robot Solution and Machine Vision System DMV3000G received excellent feedback on the first day, and were presented again on the second day.

The speakers for the comprehensive agenda were the product managers and project managers of Delta IABG. At the event, Delta displayed many product samples and live demos that allowed customers to experience Delta's latest products and applications. Many attendees expressed enthusiasm for adopting the products and solutions for use in their own machines. The seminar provided a great opportunity for Delta's teams to interact face-to-face with industry customers. There were long discussions and it was a delightful and memorable afternoon for all. With the success of the seminars, Delta's IABG will continue to provide customers with smart manufacturing solutions and products for an upgraded industry.
