Delta 3D Glass Polisher Solution for Smooth Trajectory and Uniform Surface

With the advances of information technology, mobile phones, tablets and other personal electronic devices have become essential to our everyday lives. The continuous development of consumer electronics is also elevating the standards for glass screen manufacturing technology. Today's mobile phone 3D glass screen manufacturing process includes engraving, polishing, chemical strengthening, screen printing, AF coating, hot bending and forming. During the polishing process, if the rotating speed and path is not well-controlled to cater to different polishing brush materials and solution formulas, chipping and tempered scratches on the glass screen can easily occur. This makes it one of the top five challenges among mobile phone manufacturing processes, which is why its requirements for machining precision and other functions are much higher.

The 3D glass polisher is a device that injects polishing solution onto the brush, and rotates the brush to rub the glass surface for glass polishing. Due to the difficulties of controlling the polishing speed, and paths that include arc and 8-shaped motions, the polishing process is complicated and users must choose different brushes and adjust the height based on polishing time.

Delta has developed a 3D glass polisher to meet the requirements of the electronics industry. Integrating servo drive and motor, the machine achieves fully automated, high-speed, and precision manufacturing. It can be used for processing computers, TV, and mobile screens. The solution can efficiently lower tempered scratches of the glass and edge chipping, while reducing defective products and manual errors.

Delta's 3D Glass Polisher Solution adopts the Delta Human Machine Interface DOP-100 Series for polishing parameter setting and data monitoring. The Delta AC Servo Drive ASDA-M Series drives the up-down (X) axis, front-back (Y) axis, and left-right (Z) axis of the brush with the rotary axis of the machine for polishing. The Delta AC Servo Drive ASDA-M Series supports simultaneous control of the 3-axis servo. The built-in high-speed control chip is capable of controlling the internal circuit of the servo and adjusting built-in functions via a secondary development platform directly. The interpolator function of the ASDA-M controller is utilized to calculate the arc and 8-shaped polishing paths. The interpolator enables flexible path planning as required for a smooth trajectory, efficient operation and uniform surface. The glass screen is set on the expanded axis underneath, and the Delta AC Servo Drive & Motor ASDA-B2 Series controls reverse rotation of the brush to avoid a mono polish path and ensure a uniform polishing surface. The whole solution is connected with the Delta Industrial PC-Based Motion Control Solution DMCNET for fast and accurate data transmission among the axes, achieving smooth and efficient synchronous machine operation.

In actual application, Delta's 3D Glass Polisher Solution brings the following benefits to our customers:

• Flexible and easy to match: The whole solution adopts Delta's industrial automation products, including the Delta AC Servo Drive ASDA-M Series and expansion modules, and the Delta AC Servo Drive & Motor ASDA-B2 Series. Delta's self-developed communication protocol DMCNET enables fast and easy data transmission. The structure features high precision, flexibility, stability and synchronization. It offers simple adjustment and maintenance for complete motion control functions.

• Multitasking development environment for strong control functions: The Delta AC Servo Drive ASDA-M Series features a built-in controller. It can efficiently control 3 servo axes for real-time multitasking development. Via a secondary development platform and DMCNET communication, the ASDA-M Series is able to expand nine stations for logic and motion control.

• Efficient and stable production: The ASDA-M Series' interpolator function can flexibly calculate a polishing path based on formulas. The polishing process is efficient and stable, and the time is shortened to 9-11 minutes with an accuracy up to ±0.1mm, elevating overall polishing quality by 10%.

Delta's 3D Glass Polisher Solution lowers manufacturing costs, and enhances operation safety and production quality. It adopts Delta's self-developed industrial automation products to provide a flexible, stable and reliable solution for customers.
