Delta High-speed Packaging Solution – Outstanding Efficiency, Enhancing Productivity

Plastic and paper bags are often seen as daily essentials. They are commonly used to carry lightweight merchandise such as clothing, bakery goods, and other everyday sundries. There is also the packaging that is bound together with the huge amount of products consumers buy daily. To meet this demand, the packaging industry seeks more efficient solutions to produce packaging in large quantities. The traditional packaging industry has started introducing more industrial automation by upgrading equipment and enhancing management. By improving the efficiency and the precision of their manufacturing lines, product packagers can succeed in reducing waste of both material and time.

The packaging manufacturing process includes: design, material mixing, bag blowing, film cutting and packing. For the cutting process, the equipment requires a winding axis, a feeding axis, and a cutting axis to work together to complete the cutting. The cutting process begins with lifting the cutting tools, bringing the plastic film forward until it meets the required length, and then lowering the cutting tool to complete the cut. The feeding axis must bring the plastic film forward to the designated cutting point before the cutting axis lowers the cutting tool. This is the main problem for most manufacturers in the packaging industry as it is difficult to simultaneously control the speed of the conveyor so the cutting tool can perform precise cutting, and it leads to unstable cutting quality and material waste. In addition, the traditional cutting method requires frequent adjustment of the machine mechanism to ensure a precise cutting point, which greatly increases the required working time and cost. To solve these problems, Delta offers high-precision and high-efficiency automation solutions to meet the packaging industry‘s demands, and successfully solve inconsistent cutting problems, while improving the cutting quality.

Delta offers the following products as comprehensive packaging solutions for work process optimization. A 7-inch widescreen HMI displays all of the information for cutting process. Based on the real-time data and machine operation status shown on the screen, users can manually adjust and set up production scheduling. The standard PLC DVP-32ES Series receives signals from the cutter axis and feeding axis via an RS-485 communication port. Once received, it gives commands to servo drives and inverters to complete stable and high-precision motion control. For feeding the axis control, the AC Servo Drive ASDA-A2 Series adjusts the conveyor's motor speed to precisely synchronize with the cutter axis. The cutting motion is simple, but requires high stability and precise repetition. The AC Motor Drive VFD-EL Series offers non-stop and stable power quality for the cutter axis to ensure a smooth cutting procedure. With a built-in EMI filter, it can reduce electromagnetic interference for a more stable and high-quality power supply.

Automated Solutions, Outstanding Advantages
In actual application, Delta's high-speed packaging solution brings the following advantages to our clients:

Increasing production rate: The standard PLC DVP-32ES Series matched with the AC Servo Drive ASDA-A2 Series precisely controls the film feeding process and achieves high productivity at a low electricity cost. It also reduces the frequency of feeding misplacement and machine suspension. With production efficiency enhanced up to 300 bags/min, the device accuracy can be controlled within ±0.75mm, and product standards can be easily maintained for outstanding performance.

Real-time on-site machine adjustment: With the 7-inch Widescreen HMI, clients do not need to manually adjust the device's operating speed and changing bag length. Those commands can be set up by simply touching the HMI panel for an automated procedure.

Delta provides the high-speed packaging solution to build high-quality and efficient production lines for customers. By enhancing the productivity and precision of the packaging processes, Delta successfully reduces the waste of materials and time, leading to greater industry competitiveness.
