Delta Elevator Solution Assures Energy Savings and Safety for Elevators

Elevators provide rapid and convenient mobility for people and cargo in almost every urban building in the world. Improvements in elevator technology have made users and manufacturers more aware of elevator safety, comfort, and energy savings. Market demands have pressed makers to design elevators with more functions and a lower cost.

Delta Integrated Elevator Drive G (IED-G) Series provides an elevator solution with control and drive in one unit, which greatly saves installation space. It can also realize energy savings by matching up with the Delta Active Front End 2000 (AFE2000) Series.

In China, a customer adopted the IED-G Series for use in a commercial building. The IED-G Series offers excellent anti-interference capability, self-diagnosis, and abundant control functions. It allows operators to perform elevator auto-tuning with load while providing an onsite tuning function to simplify the elevator tuning process. The IED-G Series is able to control a maximum of 8 elevators at a time with a group control card, and it supports floor height up to 64 floors.

The IED-G Series meets international safety standards (UL/CE) to ensure elevator passenger safety. The new technology integrates host controller and AC motor drive functions into one MCU which vastly improves the elevator's operational performance, efficiency and reliability. The IED-G Series also complements the Delta Door Control Drive VFD-DD Series, which is applied with the Motor ECMD Series to achieve highly efficient and precise elevator door control.

The IED-G Series' compact size greatly reduces installation space and offers machine room-less (MRL) elevators. It also has screw holes for customers to design covers which best suit their needs. The IED-G Series includes all an elevator requires in planning, assembly, technology and services with lower cost and greater flexibility for a wide range of applications.

The customer also adopted the AFE200 Series to achieve energy savings. The AFE2000 Series provides electricity for elevator drives and transforms potential energy generated by the elevator into regenerative power. The generated power is returned to the grid system for reuse, which enhances power factor, reduces harmonics, saves energy, and makes the elevator ride safer.

In addition to the AFE2000 Series, Delta also provides the Power Regenerative Unit REG2000 Series for elevators. The REG2000 Series works similarly to the AFE2000 Series. It replaces traditional brakes, and returns the potential energy to the grid system for reuse, saving costs for energy and reducing the temperature of machine rooms. The REG2000 Series provides bidirectional power exchange between AC and DC power. Moreover, it adopts parallel connection, which allows customers to install it directly on existing elevator systems.

Delta's energy-saving elevator solution combines host controller and drive functions to simplify the procurement and maintenance process and provide reliable, safe rides. As China's 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) is to build 36 million houses within 5 years, Delta's energy-saving elevator solution is the best choice.
