Five Delta Industrial Automation Products Win the Prestigious "2014 Taiwan Excellence Award"

Eleven outstanding Delta Electronics products have been honored with the 2014 Taiwan Excellence Award. Five of the eleven products are Delta industrial automation products: the AFE2000 Series active front end, the REG2000 Series power regenerative unit, the APF2000 Series active power filter, the CH2000 Series heavy duty field oriented control drive, and the DVS Series industrial Ethernet switch.

Selected by an awards committee of 91 professionals and experts, Taiwan Excellence Award winners represent the most innovative, high quality, high value-added products made by Taiwan companies. The winners epitomize Taiwan's unique genius in using innovation to create added value in the design and manufacturing of leading-edge products. This year, 514 out of 1,281 submitted products won awards, and only 30 of the 514 winning products will become winners of the Taiwan Excellence Golden and Sliver awards. The 22nd annual Taiwan Excellence Awards were organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) on behalf of the Bureau of Foreign Trade of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Delta's industrial automation products are listed as the winners in the Machineries, Parts & Accessories section.

Last year, four of Delta's industrial automation products, the CNC Controller, Mid-range Programmable Logic Controller AH500 Series, Integrated Elevator Drive IED Series and Machine Vision System, won the award. An introduction to each of this year's Delta industrial automation winners follows:

AFE2000 Series Active Front End: Active Front End (AFE) is a controllable rectifier with advantages such as providing bidirectional power exchange between AC and DC power and regenerating reusable power to the mains to reduce the cost of power. The AFE eliminates high order harmonics, provides very low harmonic current THD<5% while improving the power factor, which allows you to save the cost of purchasing additional electrical equipment for better power quality. The AFE also offers stable power quality unaffected from mains power fluctuations and can be applied to a parallel serial connection.

Delta's AFE2000 Series is designed for a wide range of applications and it achieves outstanding energy saving results. It does not dissipate excess heat into the air but converts it into reusable power that can be supplied back to the mains. REG2000 Series Power Regenerative Unit: A traditional drive system used for inertia load work performs rapid deceleration, braking and positioning. When its motor is in generator mode it produces large amounts of regenerative energy that must be consumed to maintain a stable DC bus voltage and safe operation. The traditional method to solve the regenerative energy problem is to install a brake resistor to dissipate the heat. This method provides limited efficiency and wastes the regenerative energy. Delta's REG2000 series is capable of collecting and converting a system's regenerative energy into reusable electricity for the ultimate in energy savings. The installation process is as simple as installing a brake resistor, but with only half the size and better efficiency. APF2000 Series Active Power Filter: Delta's APF2000 adopts the industry's highest standard 32-bit digital microprocessor to instantly compensate for all types of harmonics for the ultimate in power quality improvement.
