Delta Water Treatment Solution for the Process Automation of Hedong Water Plant in Jianxi, China

Global warming is altering rainfall patterns worldwide. The advancement of industry and technology, as well as the world's increasing population are adding to the escalating consumption of limited water resources at an unprecedented speed.

A recent report by the United Nations suggests that 2/3 of the global population will face water scarcity problems by the year 2025. It is foreseeable that solutions for water resource savings and supplies will experience vast growth in the near future.

Due to the rising demand for water from the fast-growing population and industry sectors, the Chinese government has poured great investment in establishing and reinforcing the public water infrastructure. For Ji'an City of Jiangxi Province, water issues became critical when the local population exceeded 4,600,000. The Hedong Water Plant in Ji'an city have facility expansion plans that aim to raise its daily water supply from 40,000 tons to 60,000 tons to provide for the local residents in the Qingyuan area of the city.

With our dedication to developing process automation technology and the launch of relevant products and solutions, Delta Industrial Automation offered an integrated solution for the Phase 2 construction of the Hedong Water Plant. The solution adopted Delta's latest AH500 series High Performance Mid-range PLCs used in combination with the DOP-B series High Color High Resolution HMIs for real-time process monitoring of the inflow pumping, chemical mixing and outflow pumping stations.

The AH500 series PLC has high-speed program execution (1k steps in 0.3 second) and large program capacity of 256k steps. Its high performance is further sharpened by highly integrated built-in software, ISPSoft which offers users easy and clear operation with a graphical interface. The featured hot-swapping function keeps the whole system running during a single-stop maintenance, ensuring continuous running of the water treatment process during maintenance. Another solution spotlight is the 10-inch DOP-B series HMI which has a vivid and clear display of the control interface. It supports direct USB connection for users to quickly upload/download the process control data in no time.

Through communication via Modbus TCP fiber optic ring, the data collected by the controllers distributed in each station can be aggregated to a central portal, SCADA in the control center, providing easy process management while making possible integration of the solution with existing and new process facilities.
