Delta Presents Integrated Drive and Bypass Systems for Highly Efficient HVAC Systems at AHR Expo 2020

Delta just participated in the 2020 AHR Expo in Orlando, Florida, U.S.A., and showcased a comprehensive suite of building automation technologies under the theme “Smarter Buildings, Smarter Cities”. Delta demonstrated how building and city managers can improve operating efficiency, reduce energy usage and enhance the occupant experience by combining Delta's smart, green solutions. Among all exhibits, Delta Industrial Automation unveiled integrated drive and bypass systems for the stable and energy-efficient operation of HVAC systems and pumping equipment. Many other automation products that could be applied to smart buildings and cities were also highlighted during the exhibition.

To visitors, Delta's booth was like a simulated cityscape with a road along which they can learn how Delta's various smart solutions fit into the vision of smart buildings and cities. "Intelligent cities rely on effortless communication between devices and systems at every level, while next-generation buildings require smart building control, surveillance, lighting and other related solutions", said Bill Lo, general manager of Delta's Building Automation Business Group. He added, "In recent years, Delta has successfully acquired state-of-the-art companies to strengthen its smart building automation capabilities. Our wide breadth of solutions and expertise shows what is truly possible for smart infrastructure. The seamless connectivity and integration between our technologies will change the way contractors, facility managers and municipalities view IoT."

Delta Industrial Automation launched its new integrated drive and bypass systems for HVAC systems and related equipment. These systems, also known as VFD CP2000 Bypass Control Packages, integrate the Fan/Pump Vector Control Drive CP2000 Series and the new GEN2 bypass systems. The CP2000 Series provides variable frequency control and various control modes for fans and pumps in chiller units, cooling towers and many other HVAC devices. When integrated with the GEN2, the systems allow manual switch to bypass mode under full load operation, and the power is supplied directly to the fans and pumps without going through the CP2000 Series. This approach saves energy, decreases the wear on the CP2000 Series drives and cables, ensures stable operation during drive maintenance, and reduces labor cost and time for system restart, providing a highly reliable system with low maintenance cost.

The VFD CP2000 Bypass Control Packages provides various models with up to 75 HP (208 ~ 600 V) and features a NEMA 1 enclosure (some models comply with NEMA 12, 3R, and 4X standards). These models support BACnet MS/TP and Modbus protocols and are readily integrated with any building management systems.

Delta Industrial Automation also showcased its industrial networking products for equipment communication and IIoT, including the Industrial Ethernet Switches DVS Series, IEEE 802.11 Wireless AP DVW Series, and Cloud Router DX Series. These products are suitable for building automation controllers, lighting systems, fans and cooling systems, surveillance systems and many other devices, helping to build smarter building and city solutions.
