Delta's Film Cutter Solution Enhances Productivity and Efficiency of Tissue Paper Production
Tissue paper is indispensable to our modern lives. Taiwan is no stranger to panic buying, whether tissue paper or masks, for various reasons. Buying frenzies increase market demand, which is why manufacturers have been upgrading their equipment and expanding production lines to raise productivity. Recently, Delta's film cutter solution has successfully increased packaging productivity by 80% for a tissue paper manufacturer in China. A traditional film cutter uses the same axis for film feeding and conveying. Once the master controller transmits pulse commands, it stops the film feeding and conveying at the same time. This lowers the yields for 100 packs of tissue paper per minute on average for the traditional film cutting process. In contrast, Delta's film cutter solution divides film feeding, cutting and conveying on four different axes. When one conveying axis feeds in the tissue paper, the film feeding axis, cutting axis and the other conveying axis continues cutting films for packaging. When the task is completed, it switches to the conveying axis that feeds the tissue paper and repeats the film cutting process. Alternating the tissue feeding and film cutting for packaging successfully enhances the yields to 180 packs of tissue papers per minute. Delta's film cutter solution features a simple structure. It adopts the Delta AC Servo Drive & Motor ASDA-M Series to drive the two sets of conveying axes and the cutting axis synchronously. The Delta AC Servo Drive & Motor ASDA-A2 Series drives the film feeding axis to complete the 4-axis simultaneous operation. To begin the film cutting, users key-in the film length and related parameters in the Human Machine Interface DOP Series. The DOP Series transmits the commands to the ASDA-M Series. The ASDA-M Series generates the motion path with its built-in virtual master axis function based on the parameters, and precisely controls and plans the start, acceleration / deceleration, and stop actions of all axes with the virtual axis signals. As the ASDA-M Series controls the two sets of conveying axis the ASDA-A2 Series controls the film feeding axis, and the axes alternate feeding in the products for filming and packaging. Finally, the ASDA-M Series controls the cutting axis for film cutting to complete the operation. The built-in virtual master axis function replaces the encoders on the axes for precise operation. Connecting the extended axis (the ASDA-A2 Series) via Delta's high-speed communication protocol DMCNET provides highly integrated and efficient communication. • Efficient and stable production Delta's film cutter solution enables the film feeding axis, conveying axis and cutting axis to operate independently. It reduces the idle time of the film feeding axis and cutting axis while conveying the products to the film. The non-stop operation greatly enhances productivity by 80% with precise packaging quality. Delta's film cutter solution can be combined with a tissue paper packaging machine for paper towels, single-packed tissue papers and string-packed tissue paper production, providing tissue paper manufacturers with a highly efficient production solution.
