Ishavsveien Selects Delta's EV Charging Stations for Project in Norway

Ishavsveien, the Norwegian quick charging operator, has today entered into an agreement with Delta Electronics to supply hardware solutions for its expanding network of quick charging solutions for electric vehicles. 6 different sites will be established with Deltas current technology within June 30th, while the companies are gearing up towards a nationwide rollout of robust high capacity quick charging stations in 2016 and 2017.

Ishavsveien has, since 2010, installed and tested different charging solutions throughout a test corridor along the E6 highway from Oslo, Norway towards the Swedish border.

This work has been made possible through a good dialogue and partnership with the Norwegian state, and the most important lesson learned from these tests is that it's extremely important to build robust charging stations with an average of 4 independent outlets per site to avoid queues, and for technological redundancies.

Secondly, the hardware simply needs to function.

We operate a binary service for our customers; Either the customers gets a charge for their EV, or they don't. Ishavsveien feels confident that Delta Electronics will be able to deliver a future adapted technology that can provide a 100% uptime service warranty for our customers. We are therefore excited to enter into a collaborative and close partnership with Delta, says Karine Finne, Ishavsveiens Chairman of the Board.

We are entering a very busy phase of Ishavsveien, in which we are going to build hundreds of charging stations with several chargers on each site. All in a limited amount of time. For that to be a success we are going to need someone we can work closely with and for whom we can rely on for the network uptime, and that is exactly what we are getting by forming this partnership with Delta Electronics, adds Leif Egge, Innovations and Communication manager in Ishavsveien.

2016 and 2017 will be the years when we will see the construction of a nationwide network of charging stations with a capacity that so far has been reserved for a limited market segment, and now finally being made available for the mass market.

Delta Electronics is very excited to be able to take part in, and to fulfil the promises of Ishavsveiens plans of trouble free E-mobility for the masses. The Norwegian political support for electric vehicles has created a vibrant EV user, and the perfect environment for our organization's commitment to E-mobility. Sustainable development is embedded into the DNA of Delta and so we are looking very much forward to show the world what we are working on to support the next generation EV's, says Jackie Chang, President and General Manager of Delta in the EMEA region.
