Delta@@s Taoyuan R&D Center and Tainan Plant Phase II Both Awarded "Excellent Green Building 2013" Recognition

Delta was recently honored for its Green Building efforts. On December 14, 2013, Taiwan's Ministry of the Interior held the "2013 Excellent Green Building Awards" ceremony at the Taipei World Trade Center where Vice President of Taiwan, Mr. Deng-Yi Wu, presented the awards to Delta's Taoyuan R&D Center and Tainan Plant Phase II. Delta is the first enterprise to win two awards in a single year since the inauguration of the Excellent Green Building Awards in 2002.

Delta CEO Mr. Ping Cheng remarked, "I wish to express our sincere gratitude to the Ministry of the Interior and to the expert jury for this recognition. This year, 26 cases were evaluated and only 12 selected for the award. The probability for two of Delta's green buildings making the short list was very low. Delta has been dedicated to the promotion of Green Buildings since 2006 and we have promised that all of our new buildings and factories will be green buildings. With our corporate mission ‘To provide innovative, clean and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow', Delta has built six factories and donated four academic buildings that have all received Green Building certification. In 2012 alone, Delta's green buildings saved around 800 million kWh altogether".

The Taoyuan R&D Center was awarded the LEED Gold-level certificate and the EEWH Gold-level certificate respectively. It has adopted Green Building concepts and smart management concepts including building energy-saving automation and factory management visualization. In addition, Delta's energy-efficient solutions for air-conditioning, elevators, LED lighting and Solar PV systems were also integrated into the entire building. Compared with a traditional building of the same scale, the Taoyuan R&D Center saved up to 53% in energy in 2012, and became a model for the Green Building concept in Taiwan.

Delta's Tainan Plant Phase II received EEWH diamond-level certificate from the Minister of the Interior. The building is another example of Delta's success in turning Green Building concepts into a reality. Delta's Tainan Plant is the major R&D site of the Mission Critical Infrastructure Solutions (MCIS) Business Unit. The core products include Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units and an integrated datacenter solution "InfraSuite". Phase II has adopted Delta's energy-saving solutions for elevators, LED lighting and Solar PV systems and includes the biggest Enthalpy Lab capable of performing refrigeration, heating, energy consumption and COP (Coefficient of Performance) measurements with remarkable accuracy.
