Delta Introduces EV Solutions to Southeast Asia
Supplies AC Home EV Chargers to the Tan Chong Group in Malaysia
Delta Electronics announced today that it has started supplying First Energy Networks (FEN), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad in Southeast Asia, with a wall-mounted residential AC charger for the Nissan LEAF, the best-selling pure electric vehicle (EV) in the world, recently launched in Malaysia. Delta's AC charger enables the EV owners to fully charge their vehicles within four hours. In addition, Delta is cooperating with FEN, Malaysia's first commercial EV charging service provider, in the installation of 20 EV charging stations in major car dealership locations, shopping malls, and public facilities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Malacca and Johor Bahru to provide EV owners free and convenient charging services. FEN's cooperation with Delta will enable Tan Chong Motor Holdings, one of the region's largest automobile manufacturing and sales companies, to provide a comprehensive EV dealership platform that offers green vehicles and EV charging units as car accessories and supports public charging infrastructure for the development of eco-transportation in Malaysia for years to come.

"The combination of our EVs and Delta's highly energy-efficient residential chargers is a very appealing option for our customers. Tan Chong is, therefore, empowering a significant acceleration of the EV market in Malaysia. Electric cars feature key characteristics such as energy conservation and eco-friendliness, and they will become a mainstream product in the automobile market," said Mr. Reza Mutalib, Director of FEN.

General Manager of Delta's Charging and Microgrid Solutions Business Unit, Herman Chang, indicated, "The Tan Chong Group is actively promoting EVs, which is consistent with Delta's mission "to provide innovative, clean and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow." Delta's track record in energy conversion technology for over 40 years is the backbone of our competitiveness in EV charging solutions. In 2011, the company unveiled a CHAdeMO-compliant 50kW EV DC Quick Charger with an industry leading energy efficiency of 94%, as well as an AC charger that has been co-tested with multiple EV makers in Europe, the U.S., and Japan, and complies with the safety regulations of TUV, UL, and CNS. Our cooperation with the Tan Chong Group will provide a convenient, quick, and safe charging service for EV users in Malaysia."

In 2013, Delta achieved considerable results in the global EV charging market, including a quick charging solution installed at Hong Kong International Airport, DC quick chargers and site management system (SMS) installations for a major utility company in Thailand, EV charging stations at Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan and a DC quick charging solution in Norway. Delta also showcased its smart AC charger equipped with both ZigBee and Wi-Fi communication protocols, and real-time energy management in October in Detroit, USA, as well as DC quick chargers and SMS at the Thailand Motor Expo 2013.
