Delta Boosts Drawer Track Assembly Efficiency With Advanced Automation Solutions

ATS srl., based in Jesi, Ancona, Marche in Italy, specializes in designing and implementing complete automatic lines, including electrical panels, machine boards, and software. With around 30 employees, ATS recently embarked on a project to develop an automated assembly machine for drawer tracks—a task requiring high precision and efficiency.  

ATS faced two main challenges: adopting Delta’s robotic automation for the first time and proving its real-time efficiency. With rising demand for drawer tracks, ATS needed a reliable, easy-to-use solution. Delta delivered with advanced technology and strong training support, enabling a smooth and confident transition.

Innovative Automation with Delta's SCARA and AX-8 PC-Based Motion Controller
Delta’s full range of industrial products supported seamless integration and implementation of the automated drawer track assembly machine. The solution is built around the PC-Based Motion Controller AX-8 Series as its core, integrated with the AC Servo Drive Systems ASDA-B3 and ASDA-A2 Series, and the AC Motor Drive MS300 Series. Operation and monitoring are handled via the Human Machine Interface DOP-110 Series, with smooth communication ensured by the Ethernet Switch DVS Series. A SCARA Robot is also incorporated to perform efficient pick-and-place. These components formed an integrated control system architecture for the assembly machine, enabling seamless and efficient operation.

Remarkable Results and Enhanced Production Efficiency
The results of this collaboration were outstanding, with ATS experiencing a 40% increase in production efficiency. The Motion Controller AX-8 Series’  capability to coordinate multiple robots simultaneously further streamlined the assembly process, reducing cycle times and enhancing overall productivity.The ease of programming and the remote connectivity features of the AX-8 Series were particularly beneficial. ATS could now perform remote diagnostics and assistance, ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolution of any issues that arose.
