Delta’s Smart Pump House Solution Upgrades Secondary Water Supply Processes

Water supply is essential for both people’s daily lives and industry. Looking back at the beginning of 2021, Taiwan faced its worst drought of the past 50 years as rainfall plummeted and caused storage of the Second Baoshan Reservoir to drop to lower than 10%. As the reservoir is one of the main water supplies for Taiwan’s semiconductor industry, the local situation caught global attention and showed the importance of a stable water supply.

Due to urbanization, there are more high-rise buildings than ever before. Secondary water supply has thus become an important source for providing water to high-rise residents and business users through storage and pressurization using pump house equipment. Traditional pump houses for secondary water supply mostly feature onsite control, manual check, and scheduled maintenance. It is easy to incur problems, such as lack of comprehensive checks and timely maintenance that can cause longer water stoppages during failures, water pressure fluctuations, high energy consumption, and water pollution.

To solve the pain points of managing departments and users, Delta has introduced a smart and green integrated pump house solution with eco-friendly concepts. The solution is suitable for hard-to-manage industrial pump stations, such as those in the countryside, and the secondary water supply pump houses for high-rise buildings. It employs non-negative pressure variable-frequency water supply equipment to achieve water supply with constant pressure. The solution features automatic controls, including security gates, pumps, valves, and disinfectors to ensure the stable operation of pump houses. In addition, admins can monitor and control the equipment with PCs or mobile phones and record, analyze, and diagnose the collected data for decision making.

Delta’s Smart Pump House Solution employs the Compact Modular Mid-range PLC AS300 Series and the Fan/Pump Vector Control Drives CP2000 Series, which offer a solution that can maintain constant pressure with variable-frequency control and save energy. In addition, the solution includes the Unmanaged Switch DVS-008 Series and the 4G Router DX3021 Series to build an industrial network system supporting Ethernet communication. The equipment data is uploaded to the management system with a rapid and stable transition for admins to monitor the equipment status and review energy consumption reports through mobile devices.

Delta’s Smart Pump House Solution brings the following benefits:

  • Smart Solution for Energy Management
Delta’s Smart Pump House Solution employs the Power Meter DPM Series and flow meters that admins can monitor and control water and electricity consumption with the energy management system. The solution is also capable of generating reports automatically. This feature helps admins leverage report insights to optimize both the water supply service and management efficiency. The Compact Modular Mid-range PLC AS300 Series and the Fan/Pump Vector Control Drives CP2000 Series also support variable-frequency control for constant pressure and fulfill the goals of energy-saving with the PMa Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) MSI Series rated IE5.

  • Remote Monitoring and Control in Real-time Reduces Maintenance Costs
Delta’s Smart Pump House Solution builds a local area network with the Unmanaged Switch DVS-008 Series and has the status data of all equipment uploaded to the cloud through the 4G Router DX3021 Series. Admins can monitor and control remotely in real-time.With the SMS and APP alarms, there is no more need for manual check and maintenance, which shortens the processing time for failures and reduces labor and maintenance costs.

  • Data Monitoring and Control for a Stable and Safe Water Supply
Delta’s Smart Pump House Solution monitors multiple water quality parameters and alerts when the indexes exceed the standards, which helps admins ensure the quality of the water supply. The solution contains gate controls and visualization systems to enhance the safety of the pump house water supply. For areas with lots of rain, the solution helps increase the reliability of the pump houses by featuring a comprehensive early warning system for waterlogging, draining and flood prevention.

Delta’s Smart Pump House Solution not only focuses on water supply management and usage safety but provides more options in implementation. Besides the traditional indoor pump houses, it supports integrated outdoor container-type pump houses. The variety lowers the limitations of space and locations and offers management a more flexible and convenient smart solution.
