What is the Delta’s Human Machine Interface & Controller (HMC)? Can the Delta’s HMC only be used with Delta’s AC servo drives?The HMC Series is a new human machine interface with built-in PLC functions. It provides all the existing functions of Delta’s human machine interfaces, as well as additional built-in PLC functions for sequence control. To make high precision control and high level performance possible, the HMC Series is equipped with two high-speed CPUs. One CPU is for the operation of the human machine interface. The other is a DSP (Digital Signal Processor) which is the motion processor for sequence control, which guarantees the execution efficiency and the performance of the system when running large and complicated PLC programs.
Using Delta’s DMCNET high speed and real time communication bus, the HMC Series is capable of connecting to Delta’s three ASDA-A2-F servo drives or to an ASDA-M-F Series servo drive. When an ASDA-M-F Series servo drive is connected, it is able to provide three-axis synchronous motion control with performance better than three comparable servo drives. The HMC Series performs sequence control and display functions. The ASDA-M-F Series conducts strong gantry control, linear interpolation, and arc interpolation functions. This perfect combination can establish an integrated system and plan the movement of a three-axis robot arm. In addition, the HMC Series’ expansion flexibility allows users to extend the connection of various remote extension modules such as 32 digital I/O modules, AD/DA modules and 4-pulse output modules. Up to 10Mbps high-speed communication bandwidth is provided. A maximum of 16 digital remote I/O modules can be extended.
