How do I prevent the final fastening torque from exceeding the torque setting value?
Verify whether the torque-rate setting value is > 1/2 of the maximum torque rate.
If the setting value is >1/2 of the maximum torque rate, the final torque value will exceed the setting value when the fastener is fully tightened.
The correct setup method is to perform a preliminary fastening and record the maximum value of the yellow torque-rate curve in the result. The torque-rate setting for subsequent operations must not exceed 1/2 of this maximum value.
A recommended torque-rate setting is between 1/4 and 1/2 of the maximum torque rate.
Example:
Perform a fastening test. The result failed because the torque exceeded the setting value. The maximum value of the yellow torque-rate curve was 0.0354 (while the setting value was 0.064).
Adjust the torque-rate setting to a value < 1/2 of the maximum torque rate, for example 0.0150, and perform the fastening again. This time, the result is PASS.
