Delta IA Solution Achieves Excellent Control of Plastic Injection Molding Machinery for Shoemaking
Plastic injection molding is vital to the shoemaking process. To obtain plastic shoe components, manufacturers melt plastic material in a heated barrel and inject it into molds. After cooling, the molded components are taken out and used for shoemaking. Each production process such as material feeding, operating speed of the injection machine, and mold opening and closing, directly affects product quality.
To improve productivity and quality for a shoe manufacturing customer, Delta Industrial Automation (IA) provided an injection molding machine solution with Delta's AC Motor Drive C2000 Series, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) DVP-EH2/SV Series, Temperature Controller DTA/DTC Series, and the Human Machine Interface (HMI) DOP Series.
For the material feeding process, Delta's injection molding machine solution adopted the DOP-B Series HMI allowing the customer to set production parameters, such as melting and molding temperature and molding time, for various materials. This helps the customer effectively control the production despite different melting points, shrinkage rate, and melt flow index of different materials and allows real-time production data monitoring.
During the injection process, Delta's DTA/DTC Series temperature controllers monitor the temperature, speed, and pressure of the machine and transmit the data to the DVP-EH2/SV Series PLCs. The DVP-EH2/SV Series then controls the C2000 Series AC motor drives and adjusts operating speed to achieve excellent productivity while monitoring the entire system's operation.
Delta's DVP-EH/SV Series PLCs offers rapid logic operation, bountiful instructions and multiple function cards. The cost-effective DVP-PLC also supports various communication protocols, including Ethernet, DeviceNet, and PROFIBUS, and is highly compatible for all users.
The modularized DTC Series temperature controller saves wiring, and is able to monitor many temperature points. Its PID control function can also effectively control many temperature points of the injection machine. With its built-in password protection, it prevents improper operation or damage caused by the operation staff.
Delta's C2000 Series AC motor drive makes the disc machines applied in injection systems highly responsive during the molding process. For a mold's opening and closing stage, the solution adopts the DOP Series HMIs and DTA Series temperature controllers. The DOP Series saves more wire than traditional control panels. Operators can set up mold opening/closing schedules and obtain real-time data by simply touching the icons or buttons on the user-friendly touchscreen. The DTA Series shows the temperature of the molds on its panel, and transmits the timing and speed of mold opening to PLCs through communication protocols.
Delta's solution assists shoe manufacturers realize excellent production control, while enhancing productivity and yield rate. Delta Industrial Automation continues to support customers in these highly competitive markets.
