Delta's Bluetooth Intelligent Lighting Control Provides Light Environment in Sync with Circadian Rhythms

Science is beginning to show how light affects people's circadian rhythm, which directly regulates the secretion of melatonin by the pineal gland, and the quality of sleep as well as mood. As a result, lighting users are requesting higher requirements for their lighting environment based on this health perspective. Delta's Bluetooth Intelligent Control (BIC), when working with an intelligent lighting system, provides not only the lighting quality required by users, but also the circadian lighting that benefits human health.

Delta's BIC system employs autonomous control as defined by the Bluetooth SIG Mesh specifications. It uses the schedule setting function as a circadian lighting application and pairs with Delta's tunable and color-adjustable luminaires to automatically adjust the color temperature and brightness based on natural daytime light changes. It is by providing such artificial light required by the human body's circadian rhythm that the system delivers healthy lighting.

For builders, using wireless lighting control to create a healthy light environment without additional wiring can turn an existing building into a health-oriented one that complies with international health building standards, which can effectively increase the value of the building. Delta BIC system provides the BIC Zone APP for mobile phones. The rapid configuration technology of the APP simulates various lighting scenarios without affecting the daily operations of the builders. Designers and builders can immediately experience the effects and atmosphere of the light environment before saving the set parameters in the BIC lighting switch and complete the configuration.

As for setting, the BIC Zone APP makes it easier for a system integrator to set up the control logic parameters of the luminaires. One only needs to select the circadian function on the APP to set the circadian color temperature parameters. While adjusting the color temperature, one can decide which color temperature parameter to use from the color temperature response of the luminaires. After the setting is completed, the parameters are stored in each luminaire.

Different from the general loop light control system, the BIC's light control configuration is not limited to luminaires being in the same loop. The control logic can be configured according to the location of each luminaire. For example, the circadian rhythm control can be applied only to luminaires in offices not close to windows. Luminaires in an office space close to windows do not need to have such a function set up. For lighting shared office space on the same floor, the Bluetooth lighting control makes group or single controls of luminaires easy for the lighting space more flexibly. Using the APP, one can add or remove controls of luminaires in a specific area, saving configuration time.

Different lighting settings are required for different scenarios in different venues. For example, the lighting control of a meeting room has different scenarios for reception, meetings, and presentations. For users, even when switching lighting modes for different scenario requirements, the color temperature of the luminaires previously set in sync with the circadian rhythm remains. This allows consistent lighting in line with users' circadian rhythm regardless of where they are, such as in an office space or a meeting space.

The circadian rhythm function provided by Delta BIC not only creates a healthy light environment, the device itself is also easy to configure. The BIC's flexible control meets the lighting and health needs of users for a variety of spaces.
