Delta Provides Ultrasonic Pressing Machine Solution for Power Adapter Case Production

Ultrasonic pressing and soldering are crucial processes for power adapter production. Traditional ultrasonic pressing has always required manpower during the production process. The operator at an ultrasonic pressing machine workstation places power adapters from the conveyor belt into the fixture for pressing. The work pieces are then placed back on the conveyor belt for subsequent procedures. This traditional method requires additional manual labor, increasing labor costs and causing unstable product quality.

Delta provides an automation solution for plastic case pressing machines in the electronics industry. It can be used for the assembly and pressing of products with plastic cases such as power adapters, portable chargers, and others. The machine combines robot and vision systems with the plastic pressing machine for a fully automated production process, which reduces labor costs for manual operation, human error, and potential safety hazards.

The production process includes Delta automation products for easy deployment and commissioning. First, power adapters are fed to the machine by the conveyor belt, where the Delta Machine Vision System identifies the position of the adapter with the first camera. Based on the feedback from the machine vision system, a SCARA Robot then grabs the product and moves it to the second camera for deviation inspection if the position is correct. The SCARA Robot will compensate the deviation if needed and move the adapter onto the ultrasonic pressing machine for processing. Once the pressing process is completed, another SCARA Robot takes the work piece off the machine and places it back onto the belt for further procedures.

In actual application, the solution brings the following advantages and benefits to customers:

• Reduces costs and improves quality: Transforms the traditional production framework by using automatic inspection, feeding and discharging, which results in labor cost reduction and product quality improvement.

• Accurate Inspection and Positioning: Adopts robots combined with a dual-camera vision system for product positioning which helps the robots perform accurate pick–and-place of products.

• High flexibility and easy integration: Uses Delta's automation products as key components to build a reliable, user-friendly integrated machine solution with high precision, high flexibility, and high stability for customers.

Delta's automation solution for ultrasonic pressing machines brings safety and quality to production and products, and is the perfect option for machine makers in the electronics industry.
