Delta and NTHU Inaugurate the Delta Power Electronics Research Center to Develop Future Talent

Delta Electronics and National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) have announced the inauguration of the Delta Power Electronics Research Center. The new research center was donated by Delta's Industrial Automation Business Group (IABG), which also furnished it with laboratory and industrial automation equipment. Delta's engineers and NCU's CSIE teams will use the center for the joint research and development of power electronics and power management and depth power technologies. The IABG's General Manager Mr. Andy Liu and NTHU Vice President Mr. Sinn-Wen Chen attended the inauguration ceremony to celebrate the industry-university cooperation.

NTHU Vice President Mr. Sinn-Wen Chen said, “Cultivating professionals and enabling academic research cooperation with industries are primary goals for NTHU. The school is focusing on industry-university cooperation projects with Taiwan's leading industry brands such as Delta. We express our gratitude for receiving research equipment from Delta. In recent years, our teachers and students are actively involved in various research projects. The rapid increase in academic-industry successes and technology transfers demonstrates strong research capabilities that have been recognized by the universities and industries. At the same time, to promote government policies NTHU has established the National Smart Manufacturing Center to actively interact with the automation industries. With our Delta cooperation, we expect industry knowledge will help develop more professional industrial automation talent at the school, and eventually result in more cooperation opportunities.”

Mr. Andy Liu, the general manager of the IABG, said, “Power electronics, as a core technology for power and industrial automation products, is Delta's key advantage in becoming a leading brand in the power and industrial automation industries.” The new research center will help innovation in the advanced technologies developed by NTHU's departments of electrical engineering and mechanical engineering, such as high-efficiency power conversion, drives and control of newly developed motors, and the integration of high-speed electrical systems. This will speed up high-end development for integration of power electronics and power management into the industry. In recent years, Delta has actively promoted smart manufacturing and increased the demand for highly skilled talents from different technical backgrounds to develop the best industry solutions with solid cross-professional cooperation and technological integration. NTHU stresses academic and practical collaboration in professional training, and alumni working at Delta are dedicated to outstanding research and developing technological strengths, which is why Delta decided to cooperate with NTHU to develop core technology and cultivate future talent for the industry.

With market changes and industry development in recent years, Taiwan is in need of cross-professional talents to upgrade industries. Among many industries, Delta is the most advanced in power and thermal management, and industrial automation is one of its core businesses. For long term enterprise development, Delta helps to enhance and refine existing production lines, and it offers upgrades to traditional production lines that demand less or no extra manpower. Using industrial data analytics technology, Delta's industrial automation integrates smart manufacturing to achieve more efficient power management.
