Event Review: Delta Showcases Multiple High Performance Motion Control Solutions at KOMAF 2017

Delta attended the Korea Machinery Fair (KOMAF 2017) from October 24th to 27th at KINTEX 1st Exhibition Center Hall in Seoul, Korea. Delta showcased a 32-axis EtherCAT servo control system, CNC Solutions, and advanced motion control products during the event. The SCARA Robot workstation for insertion was also highlighted and attracted many visitors to Delta's booth.

Held by the Korea Association of Machinery Industry biannually, KOMAF is considered one of the leading machinery and industrial exhibitions in Korea, attracting around 80,000 visitors in 2015. KOMAF focuses on various industries such as metal processing and machine tools, parts and materials, factory automation, motion control, energy and power generation equipment, IT convergence digital, smart car technology, and more. It provides a platform for companies to promote the latest industrial technologies and products, and seeks potential commercial collaborations. This year around 600 manufacturers from 20 different countries, along with numerous experts and professionals, joined this event along with industry visitors from northeast Asia.

In recent years, the machinery and the machine tool industries have shared the same goals in pursuing high-end machinery manufacturing. With years of experience in developing industrial automation techniques, Delta provides a series of high-efficiency, high-speed, and high-precision integrated motion control products and solutions for customers, which include the High Performance Servo System ASDA-A3 Series, AC Servo Drives ASDA-A2-E Series that supports EtherCAT communication, CNC Solutions, and more. These high-proficiency motion control solutions meet the requirements of complex metal processing, and machinery, electronics components, and machine tools manufacturing.

Delta's various smart products and solutions highlighted at KOMAF 2017 included:

CNC Solution: Equipped with a 32-bit high speed dual CPU, Delta's CNC controllers are able to handle a variety of workpieces processed simultaneously. As for controlling, the built-in CNCSoft tool helps users easily complete programming according to their needs. In addition, the solution integrates the advanced AC Servo System ASDA-A2 Series and high-speed servo motors, fulfilling the high-precision standards of various mechanical applications such as engraving, tapping and woodworking.

32-axis EtherCAT Servo System: This solution provides a fast, precise, seamlessly integrated motion control system with the 32 AC Servo Drive ASDA-A2-E Series and motors via EtherCAT communication. Combining with Delta's Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) DOP Series, the solution manages to make operation management easier and prolongs the equipment life cycle. Additionally, the servo drive system is built-in with programmable logic controller (PLC) function that offers seamless operation command and motion control, and helps reduce the defect rates for complicated production processes while increasing customer competitiveness.

SCARA Robot Workstation for Insertion: To meet the demand for flexible and precise manufacturing, Delta showcased an insertion workstation using the Robot Controller DCS Series, the SCARA Robot DRS40L Series for workpiece insertion, and the Machine Vision System DMV Series for workpiece and PC board detection. The DMV Series provides precise inspection and object locating, and guarantees precise insertion execution with the SCARA Robot. The SCARA Robot workstation performed precise motion control, demonstrated insertion technology and enhanced product quality, and was the most popular demo with the most feedback from the visitors.
