Creating New Value via Smart Manufacturing – Delta Presents Integrated Smart Factory Solutions at CIIF 2018

Delta highlighted a series of integrated smart factory solutions at the China International Industry Fair 2018 (CIIF 2018) from September 19th to 23rd in Shanghai, China. For this year's event, Delta integrated its high-end products and solutions to build three major exhibition areas for smart manufacturing, smart office, and energy management. Among these, the Flexibility Multi-tasking Smart Production Line displayed in the smart manufacturing area adopted robot workstations, a smart conveyor, automation systems and a management platform to make customized products onsite, which attracted the attention of both visitors and the media. Delta also attended numerous summits, forums and other events related to future manufacturing during the exhibition, while sharing its smart manufacturing approaches and success stories.

Dr. Donald Yu, the General Manager of Delta Greentech, pointed out that the coming era of digitalization and smart manufacturing requires high efficiency, energy-saving smart office and production solutions to fulfill customer needs. As an energy-saving solutions provider with core competencies in power electronics and automation, Delta will continue developing reliable and highly efficient energy management and smart manufacturing solutions to help our customers maintain a competitive edge in their fast changing industries, as well as to fulfill Delta's mission, “To provide innovative, clean, and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow”.

Creating New Value via Smart Manufacturing with Delta Smart Factory Solutions
Delta presented its smart factory solutions in three major areas:

• Smart Manufacturing: covers key elements of smart production, including the new High Flexibility Multitasking Smart Production Line with robot workstations to demonstrate real smart production, smart equipment and operation data collection/monitoring/management, factory energy management, and uninterruptable power supply solutions.

The High Flexibility Multitasking Smart Production Line integrates Delta's industrial automation products, robots, smart conveyor and software, and adopts the Delta Manufacturing Execution System (DIAMES) as the core control system for real-time ordering, automated & flexible production, and equipment/process visualization and management. This production line made customized giveaways for visitors to Delta's booth while presenting the in-depth technology of digitalization and smart manufacturing, that appealed to a wide spectrum of professionals and other show visitors.

For smart equipment, Delta's newly launched Electric Servo Press and Screw Driving Robot were on display as a smart punching and screw-locking/loosening workstation with a control & information management system.

Delta also presented its latest AC Servo Drives ASDA-A3/ASDA-B3 Series, Compact Modular Mid-range PLC AS200 Series, Lathe Controller NC200 Series, and CNC Controllers NC300 Series to satisfy customer needs in various industries.

• Smart Office: Delta took advantage of its building automation technology and built a smart, green office scene with a building management and control solution, automatic lighting system, smart security system, building energy management, AI & big data solutions, and Vivitek projectors.

• Energy Management: Delta displayed its AC and DC electric vehicle charging devices that can be integrated with charging stations, PV inverters for outdoor applications, smart street light monitoring & management systems, and a DS information distribution system with powerful remote management functions.

On the Path to Smart Manufacturing with Delta
Delta participated in several summits and forum events during this year's CIIF to share its achievements, experience, and efforts toward real smart manufacturing, as well as how Delta can facilitate manufacturers and partners in taking this path.

Mr. Eric Chen, the General Manager of the Industrial Automation (IA) BU at Delta Greentech, participated in the 4th Future Oriented Manufacturing Summit 2018, and introduced how Delta has supported industrial development with smart production solutions, digitalization manufacturing and management, and data analysis. “We have strong automation technology and abundant experience in various industries, and we can apply the best smart factory and production solutions in our own factories before presenting them to customers,” said Eric Chen. “Take Delta's PLC smart manufacturing demonstration production line as an example. This production line increases productivity by 40%, reduces labor by 88%, and cuts production space by 64% after implementing Delta's own smart equipment and production solutions. Since we seek the best and most suitable ways to achieve a smart factory and smart manufacturing, this great success provides us with inspiration, and it will be a model for replication at hundreds of our production lines in factories all over the world.”

The IABG Smart Manufacturing Solutions Business Division Director Mr. Lear Li introduced Delta's “Automation for Changing Industries” at the 7th Global Automation & Manufacturing Summit China (GAMS China). According to Lear Li, the essence of Industry 4.0 is to elevate productivity with complete smart solutions for equipment, robots, automation systems, and production lines. “We're helping our customers build a brighter future with Smart Manufacturing,” said Lear Li.

In addition, Delta participated in the 2018 (14th) CIIF·MM·New Automation Forum, OEM 12th Machine Design Summit, Taiwan Excellence Press Conference, and others to share more smart manufacturing related trends and products.

Winning Awards and Building a Stronger Brand
Delta has won five awards this year in the industrial automation field for excellent business management and automation products, and was honored during the CIIF exhibition.

The 2018 MM Smart Innovation Award by MM MaschineMarkt magazine aims at establishing a benchmark for smart manufacturing in industries with innovative interpretation to promote digitalization and smart applications. This year, three of the 2018 MM Smart Innovation Awards went to Delta, including:

• Person of the Year – Mr. Andy Liu, General Manager of Delta Industrial Automation Business Group, for his accomplishments and influence in the automation field
• Innovative Product – Delta EtherCAT Motion Controller DVP-50MC Series for outstanding product design and functions
• Excellent Solution – Delta WJ Plant for implementing smart production lines

In addition, Delta Articulated Robot DRV90L Series and EtherCAT Motion Controller DVP-50MC Series won the CEC Products of the Year Awards in the “Motor Drive and Motion Control” and “PLC & PAC” categories. The CEC 2018 Product of the Year Award, organized by the national technical journal Control Engineering China has been held for fourteen sessions and is an authoritative annual product selection activity in the field of industrial automation. The winning products were evaluated and selected by readers through a real-name vote based on technological innovation, market influence, user-friendliness and product-related services. That two of Delta's industrial automation products won awards represents consumers' support and strong faith in Delta.
