Delta Smart Manufacturing Seminar – Seeing Customer Needs and Achieving Smart Manufacturing with the Best Solutions
With over 20 years' experience in the industrial automation fields, Delta sees the challenges and difficulties that all industries are facing in their transformation toward smart manufacturing. Delta held its “Delta Smart Manufacturing Seminar” during this event and proposed many new products, equipment, and solutions for customers who are seeking smart manufacturing.

Delta presented its new smart equipment, including the Electric Servo Press, Screw Driving Robot and 3D Machine Vision Solution; as well as solutions for smart manufacturing, such as equipment IoT and production optimization solutions that include real-time production scheduling, preventive maintenance and management, AI and big data management.

Over 100 guests attended this seminar and joined Delta's presentation of smart manufacturing from equipment, to production lines, to factories. Many of the attendees also visited Delta's booth after the seminar to learn more from Delta's real-time demos and showed deep interest in cooperating with Delta.

High Flexibility Multi-tasking Smart Production Line Demonstrates Smart Manufacturing
Delta showcased its High Flexibility Multi-tasking Smart Production Line for the first time in Taiwan. The 4 meters long production line simulates an automated production process and laser-engraves customized souvenirs for visitors. Visitors can place their order online with PCs, tablets, or mobile phones on Delta's MES system. The Production Management & Visualization Platform (DIAMMP) provides real-time production process and machine data monitoring. After the system confirms the order, the Smart Conveyor dispatches work pieces to different robot stations for pick-and-place, packaging, and final dispatch or storage. When receiving the production completion notification via SMS, visitors can scan the QR code in the SMS with Delta's barcode scanner, and the robot fetches the finished products automatically. Integrating Delta's software and hardware, the High Flexibility Multi-tasking Smart Production Line connects order processing, production line and monitoring system, showing visitors “future smart manufacturing” – highly efficient, complete automation and digitalization.

This smart production line demo attracted a lot of visitors on the first day of the exhibition. Many of the visitors who received their customized gifts were impressed by how smart and flexible the solution was, and expressed great interest in cooperating with Delta.

Smart, Green Factory Solutions Realize Digitalization
For Smart Factories, Delta provides complete smart manufacturing solutions focusing on equipment IIoT, data collection and visualization monitoring, and energy consumption data analysis, including:

• Equipment IoT Platform DIALink – DIALink collects the onsite equipment operation status and production data from CNC machine tools and PLC-controlled equipment. Matched with Ethernet switches, DIALink provides a unified interface connecting upper management systems for a complete IoT structure and data visualization. DIALink is equipped with edge computing technology for setting up specific system notifications based on fixed time intervals. Integrating seamlessly with Delta's MES system, SCADA software and third-party software, DIALink provides highly efficient data visualization and plays an important role in equipment IoT.

• DIAMES Manufacturing Execution System – With a visualized management platform, the DIAMES is used to manage all factory essentials, including real-time production scheduling, manufacturing execution, warehouse management, equipment maintenance management, and quality management.

• Delta Factory Energy Saving Management Solution - This solution applies the Delta Power Meter DPM Series to factory facilities and production equipment and gathers energy consumption data. Delta's industrial Ethernet switches then transmit the data to the DIAEnergie software for real-time energy consumption monitoring and analysis. DIAEnergie helps users discover heavy energy-consuming equipment, and formulate future energy-saving plans. This becomes an integrated smart, green factory solution when matched with Delta's SCADA software to remotely control and monitor onsite and production equipment operation.

Smart Equipment Builds the Foundation for Smart Manufacturing
For smart equipment, Delta launched its brand new Electric Servo Press, Screw Driving Robot and 3D Machine Vision Solution for Soldering.

Electric Servo Press and Screw Driving Robot for Smart Punching Solution
Delta's new Electric Servo Press integrates our programmable logic controller, servo drives, and servo motors. The new electric servo press achieves highly precise, flexible punching with high repeatability, and is ideal for a high speed, high precision, and energy-saving punching process. As smart equipment, Delta's electric servo press is able to collect punching curves and process execution data in real-time, and transfer the information into reports for analysis. The information can also be uploaded to a datacenter and management platform for real-time remote monitoring and management, while achieving equipment IIoT and production visualization.

Another focus is Delta's Screw Driving Robot. It matches Delta's SCARA Robot with a screw-driving module, a teaching pendant, and machine vision system to construct an integrated solution that provides an automated, flexible and precise screw driving process. The Screw Driving Robot can precisely execute screw locking/loosening according to parameters, and also monitor the screw locking status in real-time to ensure an accurate process.

At the exhibition, the Electric Servo Press and the Screw Driving Robot were on display as a smart punching and screw-locking/loosening workstation with a control & information management system. During the process, the Screw Driving Robot precisely locks a workpiece onto a fixture according to preset parameters, and the screw locking status is monitored at all times to ensure that neither the workpiece or the screws are damaged. Afterwards, the Electric Servo Press performs the punching process, and the Screw Driving Robot loosens the screws and picks up the finished good to complete the process.

This solution adopts Delta's equipment and industrial automation products as key components that seamlessly integrate into user-friendly, high-performance smart equipment. In addition, it supports fast changing production lines and operation data collection for management systems and platforms to achieve smart equipment with IIoT and management visualization.

3D Machine Vision Solution for Precise Soldering
Another highlight at Delta's stand this year was the new 3D Machine Vision System that adopts advanced technology and algorithms to precisely detect X/Y and Z (height) information for a complete 3D inspection. When applied to the electronics industry, Delta's 3D Machine Vison System can capture and calculate the position and dimensions of a randomly placed workpiece, such as a PCB, and help facilitate flexible soldering, gluing, screw locking, and other processes. This system solves customer problems such as incomplete or inaccurate inspection, poor product quality due to human error, and low production efficiency.

For the exhibition, Delta combined its new 3D Machine Vision System and Articulated Robot DRV90L Series to build a fully automated soldering solution. The 3D Machine Vision System detects the position, layout, and dimensions of each PCB and the components inserted on it during conveyance. The inspection information is provided to the host controller and the robot control system to assure accurate and precise soldering execution of the articulated robot.

This soldering solution also adopts a simulation system, which can design and simulate the soldering workstation, including conveyor length, work space, motor speed, and more, as well as process control and execution. The simulation system helps customers design production lines and preview manufacturing to save construction time and cost. For this solution, the simulation system allows users to obtain close-to-real production information in advance, and the 3D Machine Vision System ensures precise execution despite differences or errors during actual operation. Through cyber-physical integration, this simulation system helps achieve precise process execution, and supports customers in quickly duplicating and applying different or similar production lines to reduce implementation time, cost, and labor.
