Delta Multi-Axis Motion Control Solution Enhances Precision and Efficiency for Valve Manufacturing Industry

Valves are devices that are widely used and important for applications such as water processing, machinery, hydrodynamic, petrochemical and electronics to regulate fluid flow, air, as well as vacuum pressure. Valve manufacturing has transformed from mass production towards small amount and customized production due to changes in production patterns. Nowadays, manufacturers seek to enhance valve processing flexibility and precision to fulfill complicated processing operations and other demands.

Valve processing mainly requires the use of CNC multi-axis rotary table/ trunnion type multi-axis machining center to achieve operations including drilling, reaming, tapping, screw-cutting and broaching. Once a CNC machine reaches a full rotation, the processing of a valve product is completed and ready to process the next workpiece.

Recently, Delta provided a multi-axis motion control solution for a valve manufacturer in mainland China. The solution helps in achieving a processing time of 6-10 seconds per workpiece with increased production efficiency and convenience.

The manufacturer successfully applied this solution by using Delta's 24-axis Motion Controller DVP- 15MC11T as host controller for automated scheduling of valve processing. In addition, the DVP Series together with the AC Servo Drives ASDA-A2 Series and AC Servo Motors ECMA Series accomplishes many processing applications such as rotary turntable, feeding, rotation, milling and cutting, with excellent speed and stability via the CANopen communication protocol. The solution also employs the Widescreen HMI DOP-B Series with a user-friendly interface for customers' to easily control machine operation and adjust parameter settings. In short, this solution is widely recognized for enabling many valve processing applications such as angle valves, ball valves, stop valves and gate valves with advanced flexibility, efficiency and product quality.

Benefits of Delta's multi-axis motion control solution include:

Highly Efficient Motion Control & Precise Positioning: By using Delta's motion controller DVP-15 MC11T featuring built-in absolute positioning and E-Cam function, it can effectively control up to 24 axes of the AC Servo Drives ASDA-A2 Series and AC Servo Motors ECMA Series via the CANopen communication protocol. In addition, ASDA-A2 matches with the servo motors ECMA Series to achieve all kinds of valve processing applications such as screw-cutting with motion control features such as precise positioning and 35 PR modes including a homing mode and a speed mode.

Modular Design & Less Scheduling Time: Delta's DVP- 15MC11T is equipped with a modular design for flexible programming and allows users to set up or make adjustments via human machine interface in a timely manner.

A Total Solution: By adopting Delta's motion controller, servo system, human machine interface and other key components, this highly integrated solution provides a smooth and easy-to use processing system with great stability.
