Event Review: Soft Power with a Smart Manufacturing ‘Soul'— Delta IA Presents a Smart Manufacturing Production Line at CIIF 2017

Delta exhibited a series of integrated industrial automation products, software and solutions to correspond with the theme “Soft Power with a Smart Manufacturing ‘Soul' ” at the China International Industry Fair 2017 (CIIF 2017) from November 7th to 11th in Shanghai, China. For this year's event, Delta highlighted its brand-new Smart Production Model Line and solutions including Factory Energy-Saving and Monitoring, Smart Assembly Inspection Workstation, Smart Maunfacturing Consulting Services, as well as Building Automation Solutions for highly efficient green building management via an IIoT platform to achieve total smart manufacturing with unmanned production for smart factories.

Delta Greentech (China) Vice Chairman Jimmy Yin explained, "Under our "China Manufacturing 2025" plan, Delta actively engages in smart manufacturing and using green buildings to provide a total automation system and smart production lines with rapid changeover, flexible production and enhanced integration system capability via software and automation equipment for realizing our vision of smart machines, smart production and smart logistics.”

At this year's CIIF, Delta displayed a comprehensive series of solutions ranging from total management, data acquisition, and monitoring systems to industrial automation. With highlights including:

Smart Production Model Line consists of three robot workstations which integrate one Delta SCARA Robot and two Articulated Robots, along with peripheral automation control and drive systems, a machine vision system, sensors to execute production processes to make personalized gifts for visitors. This model line perfectly adopts robots with Production Management & Visualization Platform (DIAMMP) connected to a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and cloud to execute production processes including order scheduling, feeding, laser carving and packaging. Customers are able to view their orders with updates via electronic devices and pick up finished goods at the gift storage area from the robot. The whole production line simulation is less than 2 minutes and can achieve interchangeable manufacturing with a wide range of products and small quantity production.

Other display highlights include:

Factory Energy-Saving and Monitoring Solution features the application of Delta AC motor drives, power meters, controllers and industrial Ethernet switches for factory equipment and energy consumption data acquisition. This solution facilitates operators to easily control production status at all times and enhances overall factory operation efficiency with real-time information and visualization.

Smart Assembly Inspection Workstation applies the Delta Compact Modular Mid-range PLC AS300 Series to control an articulated robot for inspecting Delta SCARA Robot functions including accurate axes movement to reduce defect rates and shorten inspection time.

Smart Manufacturing Consulting Services offers evaluation, company transition, project execution, optimization and goal realization for customers to achieve successful transitions via hardware, software solutions and customized services.

Delta Controls Building Automation Solution adopts the BACnet communication protocol and offers users a platform for remote monitoring and management of building equipment and automation control.

During this year's exhibition, Delta participated in many events such as the OEM Machine Design Summit and the Innovation Conference of Digital/Networked/Intelligent as well as provided media interviews with directors of IABG business divisions to share Delta's successful experience in smart manufacturing. This year, Delta provided an integrated management system and platform with complete IIoT connectivity and cloud technology for remote monitoring and management. Under the theme of “smart manufacturing”, Delta looks forward to working with many industrial customers to implement green manufacturing and a “Smart Green Life.”
