Delta Industrial Automation Offers High Performance Automatic Packaging Solution for Medical Reagent Card Production

Medical reagent cards are manufactured under high sterilization standards and use a four-side sealing packaging method to ensure product quality. The product's packaging process often employs manpower for operations such as feeding, film-cutting, sealing, and inspection, which may result in inconsistent product quality and raise concerns for workplace safety. Many factories also lack the technology or techniques to connect equipment and machines used on production lines for information exchange, which can lead to low performance and high production costs.

Delta assisted a medical company in Mainland China to solve this problem with an integrated automatic four-side sealing packaging solution. The solution employs Delta's industrial automation products including human machine interface (HMI), servo systems and high speed motion control network to achieve the packaging of up to 80 medical reagent cards per minute through connecting devices for fast information exchange and high precision motion control. Delta's solution for the production of medical reagent cards provides flexibility, efficiency, excellent productivity and product quality.

The packaging process of medical reagent cards uses a four-side seal packaging machine for material feeding, vertical and horizontal sealing as well as cutting via traction to produce the end product.

Delta provides the customer with an impeccable motion control solution to operate the packaging machine. By employing the 3-Axis Synchronous Servo System for Multi-Axis Motion Control Applications ASDA-M Series as host controller, it has a three-axis synchronous servo module and many built-in motion control functions such as electronic cam (E-cam) for precise control of material and film feeding as well as the cutting axis. In addition, three sets of the Advanced Servo Drives ASDA-A2 and Servo Motors ECMA Series are also used and connected via Delta's high speed motion control system DMCNET to control the axes for crankshaft, horizontal sealing and traction offering cutting with high precision, fast response and real-time data exchange.

All equipment data is transmitted via RS-232 to Delta's 10.1-inch Widescreen HMI DOP-B10S615 Series for set up or adjustment of all equipment operations.

To sum up, Delta's automatic packaging solution for medical reagent cards includes:

Ÿ• High-speed communication, high production efficiency: Delta's solution via DMCNET for multi-axis motion control assisted the company in improving production efficiency by producing up to 80 medical reagent cards per minute. Delta's DMCNET also provides an excellent platform for effortless wiring, enhanced stability, flexible extension capabilities, and versatile operation in running the four-side seal packaging machine.

•Ÿ High precision motion control: By using Delta's servo systems ASDA-M and ASDA-A2 systems to control the packaging machine, the servo drives feature many built-in motion control functions including E-cam functions to precisely control servo motors for ±0.75mm cutting, material feeding, crankshaft movement, as well as horizontal and vertical sealing operations.

Ÿ• Integrated Control System Solution: Delta's human machine interface DOP-B Series offers a real-time display of equipment operating conditions for quick setting and adjustment functions. This motion control system also employs Delta's DMCNET to connect the controllers, servo drives and servo motors applied in the packaging machinery for rapid speed and reliability.

Delta's automatic packaging solution for medical reagent card production successfully assisted the company with enhanced productivity and lower labor costs. Delta continues to create more business opportunities for our customers by providing excellent technology and services for the future.
